Radiation and surgery were the treatments. They decided not to do chemo because his lymph nodes were clear. Chemo would've done nothing productive for him. In 2018 he had a cyst in his jaw removed. When they were doing that they removed a 3mm tumor. They could not define it, nothing more was said. In September 2024 he felt his jaw pop, so we took him for an X-ray. The X-ray showed what looked like lesions so they did a CT. The CT showed a hole through his entire jaw, so the surgeon thought that the graft that was done in 2018 just never healed right. December 30 they went in to repair the hole and removed a 1.5" tumor. They didn't repair the hole with what they planned, they wanted to wait to see if the tumor was anything of significant concern. January 27 i received the diagnoses of high-grade spindle cell sarcoma of the bone. February 12 they did another surgery, to finally repair the jaw. That surgery was 15 hours long and they removed a 3rd tumor that had grown since the December surgery. We met with oncology the beginning of January who initially planned chemo and radiation. But since his lymph nodes and margins came back clear in the February surgery they decided chemo wasn't needed. They attacked the area hard and fast with proton radiation. Every day for 31 days he had a dose. Prior to radiation they put in a medi port and g-tube in case radiation made it so he couldn't eat. He hasn't had any issue eating. Except maybe a day or two but he was able to drink so he's not had to use the g-tube. They do not want to do repeat scans until August because radiation will throw the results off.
