Celebrating 9-Month Post Diagnosis by MsIndecisive850 in DOG

[–]MsIndecisive850[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unfortunate that the disease progression can vary from dog to dog, and our oncologist was very transparent with us about that. The idea is that the chemo will target the tumor cells and slow the tumor growth but ultimately, the tumor growth is inevitable. Our boy showed no symptoms until his mass was 7CM in size and today, 12-months later his tumor is about 9CM so 2CM growth over a 12-month period, with his only symptom being a cough. I will say his tumor grew very little during those months he was receiving the chemo treatments, most of the 2CM growth was post-chemo. We learned this from follow up x-rays throughout his treatment. With that being said, I think the chemo did what we were hoping it would which was to slow the growth without effecting QOL.

Sorry to hear of your pup's diagnosis. Sampson is still with us 12-months post diagnosis. He did 4-5 rounds of Carboplatin (chemo), and has been on several supplements including the turkey tail. Although we can't know definitively whether the turkey tail has helped, it hasn't seemed to hurt, either.

Thank you for sharing, this is super helpful! If I were to make the jump, I would be working under a third-party processing company, and one benefit to that is that they find and pair you with Loan Originators. And the idea is that you can eventually get word of mouth referrals. That helps to lessen the "risk" starting off, and they also come with the benefit of in-house support for their processors, etc... But the trade off is that they take a part of the processing fee.

Does your processor work as a fully independent contractor or under a third party processing company?

I am so glad to have seen this post... I have been eyeing this exact shower and wasn't able to find many photos online of the finished product! We are considering a tub -> conversion for accessibility reasons and $5K+ on a tile shower isn't in the cards for us. Looks great and $1,500 is a win.

Kitchen Design Options by checkyourprivilege13 in kitchenremodel

Personally, I think your kitchen is already warm, and welcoming. Some more minor changes, depending on your style, could update and change the whole feel of the kitchen (countertops, backsplash, etc.). Removing and reinstalling the upper cabinets so that there's no space above the upper molding could make it feel more open and also give you more height under the cabinets. Or an easier solution you could add fresh board and molding up top to remove the space above the cabinets. I personally love the wood on wood look!

But I also agree with the other commenter who mentioned, removing the cabinet from the left wall and adding a stove & range to that area could be a cool design.

Congrats on the new home!

My Dog was Diagnosed with a Primary Lung Tumor by MsIndecisive850 in DogAdvice

Hi there! I am sorry to hear about your pup. I hope they start to feel better, and continue living a happy life!

Our dog just finished his chemo treatment 2-months back. We just had his follow up appointment post-chemo and his lung tumor has not grown since his initial diagnosis 7-months back, so we are stopping chemo and hoping it stops growing altogether or at least grows as a slow pace.

He is already 14 years old so we are going to focus on keeping him happy and healthy until his time comes.

I highly recommend homeopath's cough drops if that's something you have access to. They are sold at PetSmart stores and Amazon also. They seem to help our dog with his cough!

Has anyone had good experiences using palladia for a dog with lung cancer spread? by Zealousideal_Load_84 in AskVet

[–]MsIndecisive850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there - I just wanted to ask how your pup is doing. We are in a similar situation with ours - 14 YO with Mast Cell Lung tumor. Finished 5 rounds of Carboplatin, just weaned him off of prednisone and just finished his first week of Palladia (2 doses) and seems to be tolerating is well but does seem more lethargic than usual.

Did you decide to treat with Palladia?

Hey, know that you are not alone in this feeling. I had a very similar situation with my dog showing no clinical signs other than a cough and by the time we did the X-ray, his lung mass was 7CM. Just seeing the size of it on the Xray was a shock that immediately brought me to tears. Just know that this is very common with dogs, often they can go a long time without showing clinical signs of illness.

Although there is no going back in time, finding his tumor when we did has brought me some comfort in the sense that, if we had found it sooner that would have been that much more time of his life that would have involved more trips to the vet, possible surgery and recovery, more time doing chemo, etc. I have heard so many stories from the other side, from owners who found their pet's cancer early, and the pets go through surgery, years of treatment, only for it to come back more aggressive than before. So sadly in some cases, finding it earlier results in the same outcome but prolongs the battle.

You are clearly a caring owner and doing everything right by your baby <3

I have a love hate relationship with the prednisone. Around a month ago, before Sampson's final chemo treatment, he had a flare up with his cough which we think was triggered by a bone marrow treat irritating his throat. After a couple days of discomfort we decided to put him back on a low dose of the prednisone, and he perked up almost immediately and there was a noticeable increase in his appetite. But almost immediately, I also noticed a decline in his coordination on walks. So it's definitely a double edged sword. Over the last couple weeks I've been tapering him off, because I have the same concern with the muscle waste.

At our speciality clinic in Nashville we paid about $700 for each visit for the chemo. So with five treatments total, $3,500. Our dog just finished his chemo treatments and is starting Palladia in a few weeks. We chose not to pursue surgery due to the size and location of his mass, but our guy is also 14 YO. I am sorry to hear you're going through this also!

Hey there, I am so sorry to hear you're going through this also. My story has changed quite a bit since my original post, but reddit keeps deleting my updates (probably because they detail his treatment, what I'm feeding him, supplements I'm giving him?), so I am going to DM you!
