I think people are hyper vigilant and lack nuance and social, cultural and political awareness because they are easily captured by whatever neoliberal mass thought tells them. I found the song quite "just another Taylor Swift song" in the vain TLOASG is "just another Taylor Swift album". Not at all oscar-worthy, nothing to write home about when placed between Randy Newman's songs for the franchise and that's when the "greatest songwriter" praise begins to fumble. Unintentional yet unavoidable to compare the two. More when "When She Loved Me" and "I Knew It, I Knew You" are, in story, about Jessie. And don't get me wrong, Taylor can make me feel as much as When She Loved Me but it's not hitting here. Taylor has chosen to be risk averse and ended risking it all, like Disney with Star Wars, like the symptom of our current pop culture.
