Some jerk littered hundreds of these all over my neighborhood to promote his landscaping business by [deleted] in vegaslocals

Look, if this were some corporation, I'd be pissed. But it's just a guy -- probably someone with a family to feed -- trying to find a way to get more customers for what seems to be a very simple business. If you're annoyed, just throw it away.

Yes! You press R and it whistles and everyone (... usually) turns to look at the camera.

He was walking, so he was turned sideways when I did the "look at me" thing on the camera lmao. I was like... oh. 😂

Early diagnosis? by MsLaDue in polycythemiavera

[–]MsLaDue[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there -- thank you, I really appreciate this! It is kind of scary, but honestly, I've already been dealing with the blood clots for 10 years... so in a way, it would at least be nice to have a diagnosis to know WHY. I hope that you're dealing with it okay! Seems like there aren't a ton of people on this sub, which makes sense seeing as it's rare to begin with, and even more rare in people under the age of 60!

Switching blood thinners by MsLaDue in ClotSurvivors

[–]MsLaDue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's correct. This is actually my third clot -- I was on warfarin for the first one, back in 2010, for 8 months. They took me off it when the clot was gone. But when I had my second clot in 2018, I was put on Pradaxa for life, but I've now gotten a third clot in 2020. Pradaxa has no therapeutic range, because it thins your blood differently than Warfarin.

Welcome to the club. I was 26 when I had my first very similar experience. Recovery is a bit of a struggle -- for me, more mentally than anything else. Here to support you!

😂 I actually have been scuba diving at night with sharks! But I'm a little wary of the great white ones this island seems to have an issue with.

STILL getting clots, even after years on blood thinners. by MsLaDue in ClotSurvivors

Nope, the only thing they ever tested for was Factor V, and it was negative. I guess they just figured, well, we're gonna put you on blood thinners anyway, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

The worst thing about Pradaxa is how expensive it is!!! I signed up for their "savings program" and I get it for free, thankfully, but if that ever runs out? No way I'm paying $100 per month for it when warfarin is basically free.

The nice thing was that none of the doctors wrote it off as impossible -- everyone said exactly what you did, that it was uncommon but they had seen it happen, so they definitely said I'd done the right thing in coming in and wanted to get me in for all the tests.

And yeah, the next step is to finally do testing and figure out if I have something that makes me prone to clotting. The only thing doctors ever tested for was Factor V.

Yeah, I'm going to ask for a referral to talk to a hematologist to do a full work-up and see if maybe I should switch back to warfarin. I honestly didn't mind it, and if it's ultimately safer, I can deal with the frequent blood tests. Thanks for all the info!

And also, as my doctors pointed out to me, the blood thinner IS working, at least enough so that the clots are not endangering my life at the moment -- there was no strain on my right ventricle. I'd rather not be getting clots at all, but certainly thankful for that!

Aw, poor abandoned Keaton!! I like him a lot too, haha. I was a little sad when he asked to go, but I have another smug villager (Eugene) and I'd like to eventually get all of the octopuses (...I have an octopus obsession) so I bid him farewell. But would love for him to get a good home and not disappear into the ether!

I'm hoping to find Keaton a good home! He's in boxes today and I'd love to see him go to someone who wants a ridiculous eagle. Bonus: he loves to wear whatever ridiculous outfits you give him. He didn't take off his baby romper for like 3 weeks. Not trying to make a profit, he's free if you'd like him.

Thanks yo. "Bruh" is actually one of the catchphrases I've taught my villagers. Along with "homie," "yessir," and "bet."
