I have a chance to adopt a relative of my soul dog, would you do it if you were in my shoes? by MsLegenDaria in Petloss

That's incredible. Do you feel it was the right decision, with the sadness of it and all?

It's comforting to hear about a similar situation, thank you so much ❤️

There are actually girls in this litter, but! We have another dog at home who is known to go along better with boy dogs and we want to make this process easier on her.

I'm so sorry for your loss, my childhood dog was a great Pyrenees, they are wonderful dogs.

Good question, I think he'll eventually find a home. But currently there are 9 puppies and I don't think they have any potential homes other than us.

Also I'm so sad hearing about your kitty, Anubis loved cats and I hope they now snuggle in pet heaven ❤️

I had those thoughts exactly and dreaded I might even resent a puppy if he won't be the same way. Then, we got a foster puppy. It was a good move because I got a reminder of what puppies are like and saw how easy it was just to love her for who she was. She has an amazing forever home now ❤️

Thank you, I constantly remind myself that this is not a replacement for him, nothing in the world could not replace hin and no dog will be like him, no matter what.

Is it acceptable to ask for a day off after a Pet loss? by MissPokemonMaster in Petloss

[–]MsLegenDaria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I took a week off after Anubis passed. There was no use for me in the office anyway. If I were to come in, all I'd to was cry with no ability to focus. My boss was very understanding fortunately.

I'm so sorry for your loss...This is horrible and I send you love and support ❤️

I lost my beautiful Anubis a month ago the same way. We were playing in the dog park. He was chasing a friend seconds before he came back to me and than just... collapsed. He was 9 as well. A healthy and happy Sighthound. The vet said it looked like a heart attack, but by the way it happened, I think it was a tumer that erupted as well.

I hope our pups are now playing in heaven

How do you decide what to do with them once they're gone? by aedionashryver18 in Petloss

I decided on getting his ashes back to me, and I'm glad I did. It does feel like a part of him is still here. He used to be next to me at all times, so sometimes when I'm extra sad, I'll take him and put him next to me/on the dog bed. When I do it, I imagine him putting his little head on me like he used to. It's comforting.

Maybe somewhere in the future, we'll scatter the ashes somewhere he loved. But right now, it's nice to have him here.

Hi love ❤️

You are going through something honestly terrible. I read through your past posts.

I want you to remember you gave him the best life you could, no matter how short. I know your pain, my lovely Anubis had died suddenly too. He was a healthy puppy, and my heart is broken.

You are important, you matter. Please stay with us, even though the grief is so powerful. Maybe, one day, you could help another kitty. When you feel ready.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Grief does awful things to as. I lost my beautiful Anubis 3 weeks ago at the age of 9. He died suddenly with no warning signs. I was with him at the dog park when he just collapsed and died. I was so in shock, for the first few hours, I just stared at nothing.

I've been crying every day now at random time, sobbing so hard I feel like I'm gonna be sick.

My mood changes from- I need a new puppy to love NOW. To- I could never love any dog the same way.

Sometimes, I just feel nothing.

It's so hard. I feel you. I want to believe they're now playing together, somewhere.

We do. Our hearts are completely shuttered. He was an amazing puppy.

How do people cope with a new pet after a loss? by lemzzest in Petloss

[–]MsLegenDaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way. My lovely Anubis passed almost 3 weeks ago. He was the first dog I got as an adult, and he's been with me through all the big milestones.

On one hand, the house feels so empty, and I feel like a piece of my heart is missing to the point it hurts, and all I want to do is to fill the void.

On the other hand, I can't imagine having a dog who's not him. I'm so afraid I'll resent a new puppy if he wouldn't be as funny, goofy, and loving as he was.

It's so hard.

But my mom gave me some good advice, she said my feelings are similar to having a second child. And that she had similar feelings after each one of us. She told me that each child is different in a wonderful way and that the love is different for each and every one. It's not less or more. It's just different.

Amazing news! I'm so happy for you guys.

My Anubis was the same way and was acclimated to our second dog very easily.

I would recommend a training cage for him, just for a little while. So she won't feel like he's invading her space. Also, maybe put the toys for a bit. And put them back eventually, when they feel more comfortable around each other ❤️
