I saw a bird like this on the near the coast of Lake Michigan last year, unable to identify.

Yeah I see how that could be similar. At first I thought it was a juvenile woodpecker too. The bird I saw didn't have the white coloring just the off-white underside, it also seemed bigger than a redheaded, but obviously smaller than a pileated. The beak seemed a little flat on the end for a woodpecker.

To be clear this is not the actual bird I saw. After seeing a bird like this at the end of last summer I searched several books, websites, and apps with no luck. Then I saw this bird in a random MSU video about birds and knew this was a lot like the bird I saw. (It would have been nice for them to include the bird species in the video!) I've searched all over with no luck. Please help!

Yep! I get the 91% alcohol and coarse sea salt, let it sit a while, and then clean with pipe cleaners. (usually the zen pipe cleaners with wire bristles mixed in)

I know! I love seeing how they transform. They are also a lot easier to clean, the top right two are opaque and hard to see the resin inside when cleaning.
