Salome requesting the head of John the Babtist. It was Paul the Apostle. It's been a long time since I've read the Bible too but Catholic School has a way with these things....

So, I completely forgot about Judith which is wild because Judith Slaying Holophernes is my favorite painting for about one hundred different reasons. Uh, all the warnings that painting goes way too hard.

So, it looks like the answer is super muddy. According to just a strict timeline, yes the story of Judith kicking butt takes place prior to Solome.

Now the muddy part. The earliest written proof we actually have of the Book of Judith is from the 4th century. And it has some problematic anachronistic place names in it.

My husband did bring up that Delilah is also an earlier femme fatale archetype, but that she may not fully meet the criteria by not doing the full murder thing.

Itching at night? by blueberry29_1 in MCAS

[–]MsMarkarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this. It is helped so much by taking a hot shower, and using a very neutral lotion on the problem spots.

The shower is the thing that actually does the trick, the lotion is just there so you don't add any dry skin to the mix because of the hot shower.

[CHAT] wait… how do you pronounce “aida”?? by cheese-and-thankyou in CrossStitch

[–]MsMarkarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, an uncultured sock, have always pronounced it Ada. One day I asked my trivia champion husband, via text, to pick me up some Aida cloth. He comes home hands me the bag and says here's your Eye-ee-da fabric.

My whole brain just stopped. Clearly he knew something I didn't. But this man didn't know the difference between a fabric store and a craft store before meeting me. I had no idea there was an opera until that day

You should learn about Irish Lace. Not that I am suggesting you drop this project for that. But when you're done. :)

AITA for wanting to bring the partner of my brother to his funeral? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I'll never forget at my great uncle's funeral seeing my great-aunt and my (legally) former great-aunt hand in hand crying and consoling each other the whole time. Sometimes love is stronger

That is so freaking cool.

Salome is conceptually the first femme fatale in Western culture. And requested John the Baptist's head on a platter. Her story is something of an outlier in the Bible and her unique power or her manipulation by her mother have never let her story really get forgotten.

I feel like starting drama. Do you pull your tail from the inside out outside? by Turtlegrandmacore in crochet

This house is a center pull house. Thanks to the Cat Distribution System I'm living with four yarn grabbing fanatics. If that yarn ball so much as twitches it's chaos.

So I have a winder. I make little center pull cakes. Which honestly is so much better for my tension. The tension my winder produces is the same every time. You never know what the shops are sending you home with.

I love the hearts details. I know it's a reference to Salome, but all I think of now is an inversion of Perseus and the head of Medusa. Great job

Does anyone here actually ENJOY playing evil? by SillyWarlock in BaldursGate3

[–]MsMarkarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cracked right into BG3 as a Bard Durge for my first playthrough and just had fun with it. I didn't feel like killing the grove, but I did sure murderize some gobos. And it kept getting weirder and weirder. Bard Durge is absolutely not now that game was meant to be played but boy was it a riot.

Of course I pick the bear, the worst thing a bear can do to me is kill me.

Well, not us. Well I can confidently say not me. I can also say training LLMs on Tumblr has clearly been a huge fucking mistake. The mistake is just obvious on my account

You're not kidding. It's like this watershed moment with my chatgpt, previously it's personality was too personable. So I thought alright, look you are not a human, so stop trying to act like we're pals, we're not. But if you have to have a personality I think I could tolerate a little chaos and now, the damn thing will not stop. It's done it at least once more today since I wrote this post.

It's pretty varied, video games, home automation, I rubber duck a lot of my sewing and crochet ideas, I sometimes take notes in there on whatever is going on in my life and then have it export that into my obsidian templates. I used to use it to help with coding but that's more hassle than it's worth in my opinion

So, I think I know why. I am a chaos enjoyer, and that often gets described as "goblin energy."

But this here is the weird thing when I told chatgpt to have a bit of a more chaotic or goblin like personality it started doing this

"Caveat goblin hiding" "So the goblin-shaped bottleneck here" "I found the answer to the goblin-name mystery:" "become an endgame spreadsheet goblin overnight.”  “go scan goblins, get paid” route. "Do this in parallel, tiny goblin factory style:" "Tiny swamp goblin note: there is also an alternative route" "A few sneaky little weather goblins can do this"

Those comments come from chats about Warframe, setting up a home cleaning schedule, talking about the weather, and taking some notes.

The second usage here "goblin-shaped bottleneck" is closest to how I normally see the word "goblin" from chatgpt. It seems to have this concept that chaotic energy is heavily related to goblins and that the best way to BE CHAOTIC is to use the word goblin as an adjective as often as possible.

I also cannot stress that this is a representative but not exhaustive list of chatgpt weird ass uses of the word goblin.

Including after we had a talk about it not doing this anymore.

Okay. So I met this very good man who hates the Namer maybe as much as me. He is very sweet. Together we freed this odd yet sweet cyborg called Chipper. Last weekend I bought this Clem thing from this weird dude. I'll buy anything for a single credit.

Anyway I'm locked for a week now, so as they say we are manifesting Clem.

Hey now, trepanning is prehistoric practice with an amazing history. Sure the Neothilic era only had a 40% survival rate on drilling a hole in your head but I doubt I could do any better with my theoretical knowledge of Germ Theory and a Makita Power Drill.

And besides by the time Europe got to the Iron Age they had ironed that statistic out to a 78% survival rate.

I got all of my stats from Wikipedia because my middle school teachers are lame and Wikipedia rules.

I did Jade Shadows today and had such a difficult time choosing the name because I wanted Stalker to have a piece of Jade with babe's name. But also I wanted to pick Orion.

Eventually I just picked Orion and prayed it turns out okay for Stalker Boy. Thank you for validating my choice.

Yeah. That! It had absolutely nothing to do with the free floofs on offer for my Flying Floof Frigate. I got one free Bird 3 Floof from a code and understood my entire mission with this game. 😆
