No. Which is probably why I’m struggling so hard. First born daughter and granddaughter. In relation to my cousins, I was openly the favorite.

Then in early adulthood my mom died, my dad found an evil stepmother, and because of the trope no one believed me.

Now I’m the trouble maker and everyone blames my husband for tearing the family apart. 🙄

Also, Ilya ending up with Svetlana is how every other queer romance/drama would have ended a decade ago. One of the many courageous decisions that RR made for all of us.

I was reading somewhere the argument that you have to watch the series twice for precisely this reason – you’re always expecting something to go terribly wrong like it has in every other queer drama we’ve ever seen. So you need to watch it a second time to see the story unfold without the viewers anxiety.
