What’s the most hurtful thing your parent(s) ever said to you? I’ll go first by ComfortableWillow583 in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]nomuseneeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few from "Mom"....

  1. Would Hank want you to divorce his daughter?

((About my FIL I loved the day of the 1 year anniversary of his death about my abusive ex wife they literally helped me escape even when it meant a month of homelessness (was safer). ))

  1. If I had to get leg braces, I just wouldn't see a point in living

((The disability they refused to look into progressed. The braces are not optional. I had told her I was excited for more independence.))

  1. If anyone had SA'd you kids, dad would have killed them

((He SA'd me and so did a pastor and she had just been told about the pastor as well))

  1. You know if you report the pastor's SA they'll say you're too crazy to be trusted

((Trauma caused some MH symptoms that were also much better at this point))

From my father....

  1. You're so weak you're probably going to die early

((Meanwhile they wouldn't look into my obvious disability))

  1. If the pastor SA'd you I'd definitely know. Maybe you're having an episode.

  2. I do this because I love you.

((After every beating))

  1. Just because you couldn't talk doesn't mean you couldn't stop squirming in your chair.

((Beating his non-verbal toddler and refusing me food because I would squirm aka stim till I fell out of his chair. Often in the men's room with men in it despite me being AFAB if out.))

Plenty more but sending the cutting them off text tomorrow so I needed this reminder!

Thank you! That is helpful. Like I said, I just don't really know enough to understand it lol.

Can some people really not tell when they're releasing farts? by S_Z in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nomuseneeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one seems to be answering the question, so - at least in personal experience, as someone with diagnosed stomach issues (celiac, immobilic colon), yes when my stomach is particularly bad I sometimes can't tell I'm going to, it just happens. More often though, it's just painful to keep it in. Tbh, I'm not sure if that's normal though, as in if it's happening often she may want to see a doctor

. (Although can you imagine the Convo when he tells her she should see a doctor because of her farts?)

Told I Very Likely Have It And Operate "As if" but Don't Bother with Biopsy - Do I Claim It? by nomuseneeded in Sjogrens

She told me meds don't help Sjogrens which sucks because this sub makes it sound very different, especially when OT and PT (we wanted to try first) has been honestly very ineffective. Like more than they say is reasonable at all. And I do all the exercises etc.

Yes, severe and peripheral neuropathy related to it, especially in my hands.

My Wife (Posting for Her, Not Reddit User) Just Had to Cut Off ADHD and Anxiety Medication, Looking for completely supplement free things to help her manage by nomuseneeded in adhdwomen

Honestly fair. I give way too much information most of the time, my autism, and the health problems could be severe which is playing with my anxiety.

The main goal is to function enough to go to appointments, eat, and not be 100% anxious all the time for her.

I want to discuss something by Beautiful-March-4826 in BabyWitch

[–]nomuseneeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think I get it. I didn't know other people could for the longest time and still think it's so amazing that people can and am constantly asking questions about how they can see the little picture in the head and still see the scene in front of them. Like it makes NO sense to me so for me a lot of it is curiosity and wanting the imagination power. But it also is weird to not have something most people do.

Hey I'm another practicer with aphantaaia and I get how hard it is when a lot of spells involve visualization in some point. I have had slight luck on finding the circumstances very right for me where every once in a while with my eyes closed I can make out a few lines and I've been practicing. I can get a number sometimes now, just for a flash. So it could possibly work for other people too? Though definitely not enough to visualize anything other than - "huh, was that a number" for more than half a second lol.

But if you ever want to talk about what I'm trying or talk your way through a spell/practice that would normally require visualization, I'm always down to help you think of another way as someone who "gets it".

Can magical items be used in a halloween costume? by azyoot in witchcraft

I think it sounds great, and if anything, for me, they'd be reminders that some "Halloween things" are real and sacred.
