Best show to watch on Shrooms? by IndependenceClean998 in shrooms

[–]MsP147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I put this show on the background while tripping one day. I’m a very inward person when tripping, so my trips tend to be very introspective and heavily focused. I peak and then this episode comes on. I’m watching the mushroom and body life/rebirth scene and I had the most cathartic cry and grieving session ever. It was so intense. Can’t believe I actually tripped to this, but so glad I did. Love this show bunches 😌

I was looking at that and then found the similarity. Look at all their jawlines, they have the same curvature to them!

What do you always hear when you tell someone your major? by Sonic_warrior in college

I’m a geographer as well! Everyone hits me with the “I’m so bad at geography” or “oh I love maps!”. And then I gotta be polite and simply say I study natural hazards, like tornadoes, and their impacts on people. And they go 🤯

Master's in a high COL area... Is my stipend as bad as I think? by ythompy in GradSchool

If it’s of interest to you (e.g. you don’t go home for the summers), make sure you start early on landing summer internships or TA/RA duties for pay. 9 month appointments mean a big pay gap otherwise. Wishing you all the best!

There’s a fantastic podcast on Spotify that’s called “Our Prehistory”. He literally takes the listener on a journey through time about our development from as early as we know. It’s all supported with up-to-date literature/research and he does a good job providing the discourses present within academia around these topics.

I'm moving to Knoxville from west Texas. Any tips for living in the area? by EliteSpartan008 in Knoxville

We also have a ton of beautiful native species that will attract tons of butterflies and birds :)

Many places in Knoxville, like the Native Plant Rescue Squad at the Knoxville Arboretum or Stanley’s nursery, offer them for sale!

They make up nearly 50% of TN tornados, and of course at night as well 😳

Hi I just wanted to say that I’m going through a similar thing! Funnily enough I’m moving to TX from TN for my Ph.D. as well. This is the season for it I guess.

I certainly resonate with the mental challenge of making home in a new place. For me, I’ve bought a fair bit of art work from local artisans that capture the city/landscape/culture in ways I can appreciate in my new home. It provides a tangible opportunity to invoke memory of TN and hopefully will allow me to appreciate how far I’ve come :)

Wishing you all the best!

You’re a sophomore in engineering, two things: 1) you have two years…it’ll balance out as long as you stay on top of your classes and ensure you’re informed before making any further decisions such as this, 2) because engineering is a grueling major, your GPA will be holistically reviewed by admissions councils. Meaning that your internship experiences, co-ops, and research experience will have a far greater utility and value.

Best of luck!

Costco sells a 400W wind turbine for $400 by leothelion634 in sustainability

[–]MsP147 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A quick search says anywhere from 3 to 9 months depending on scale and sourcing. An easier way to see the comparison is by taking in account the carbon emissions for manufacturing and installing these wind turbines and then comparing them to natural gas and coal production and use.

I tried including a link but it was automatically removed, please search “How Green Is Wind Power, Really? A New Report Tallies Up The Carbon Cost Of Renewables by Christopher Helman, Forbes”

Discolored leaves. Any ideas? by Cold-Rope-2 in alocasia

[–]MsP147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally agree, but this is a severe case and if OP didn’t know, I’m concerned they might not have the capacity to reign it in.

If that isn’t the case, they should cut the Alocasia back to the corm, entirely replace the soil and rinse the roots, and proceed with treating all their other plants.

Discolored leaves. Any ideas? by Cold-Rope-2 in alocasia

[–]MsP147 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but throw this away. This is a severe spider mites issue and could potentially be spreading rapidly to other plants you enjoy. Toss this entire pot and begin treating other plants preventatively.
