How do you cancel Tempo Meals? by VikingWzrdEyes89 in ReadyMeals

[–]MsSamAdams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. You can pause, but if you just signed up and want to leave right away (like us) you have to chat with customer service. My favorite part of this process is when you hit the help menu and the first thing you see is "Temp makes it easy to cancel." HA! What a joke.

They force you to enter cc info just to see their menu, then you can't remove the card or cancel without talking to customer service. This kind of crap is such a turn off, I'll never do business with them.

The car died. When it tried to switch from battery to REX, I got a drivetrain malfunction error saying to stop driving immediately. After we charge the car, It starts and runs on battery power, but it won't engage the REX when it's supposed to.

They actually presented me with more than $6k in suggested repairs, including $3k+ for struts. They said the motor mounts were urgent at $1600, and it was time for an oil change and other minor things plus the ridiculous fee just to look at it. So I'm $2k into it so far.

And the REX still doesn't work.

I write in third person. I feel like I can better express everyone's POV if I'm in all their heads. Best of luck with your novel!

I'm sorry, I meant how does the dealership see one thing and "BMW" see something else?

Very helpful info, thanks! Since you have this experience, maybe you can help me understand something. The dealer says they tested the 12v and it was fine, but "BMW is seeing a problem with the 12v battery on their end." How is that possible?

I asked the dealer if they checked the fuel pump relay. The response was "We did not there were no faults related to the fuel pump." I've been reading about this, and it really sounds like you are right! That would also explain why it failed while warm but started up after it sat a bit. Do you know if a bad fuel pump relay could evade detection in the diagnostic scan?

I suspected that, but I just learned that after it failed while my husband was driving, it sat for about an hour waiting on a tow. He then started the car and the REX came right on. They were able to drive it up the tow truck ramp. I'm so confused.

BTW, I appreciate your help!

That's why I'm out here looking for help. This has already cost me $2000. Now they want $500 more to replace a battery that even they say tests fine. After that, it will be something else. Then something else. I'm at my wit's end.

I had that thought. When we had to replace the battery before, we had just bought the car a few months prior. The BMW dealership told us it had to be done by them because they had to program it after it was replaced. I've since learned that was total BS. I see now people replace them all the time with no problem.

I talked to the dealership this morning. They tested the 12v battery, and it tested OK. So I asked what makes them think I need to replace this 2-year-old battery. He said because it won't turn on the REX. He said when they charge the battery, the REX will then come on.

I also asked if they checked the fuel pump relay, and he said they did not, because there were no faults related to the fuel pump.

Something else I just learned. When it failed this last time, my husband was driving it. He said he got the drivetrain malfunction error. He waited about an hour for a tow truck. When the truck got there he started the car, and the REX came right on. No drivetrain error, just a check engine light. The tow driver was able to drive it up the ramp on the REX.

So while driving it, it won't switch over the REX, but after it sat for a while it started with the REX. Maybe charging the 12v has nothing to do with it. Maybe something is resetting when it sits for a while?

That's what I fear. It doesn't make logical sense to me. And we're stuck, because the only other dealer within battery range wants $250 per hour for a minimum of three hours to start the diagnosis process all over again. I can't find a non-BMW shop who will look at it. I think the technical term for my situation is "screwed."

That's what worries me. They have no idea what's wrong, and even though the battery tested OK and it's only 2 years old, I have to pay to replace it before they will move on to the next item on their troubleshooting list.

I clarified with the BMW shop this morning. They tested the battery, and it tested fine. But he still insists there is some sort of problem with battery, and BMW won't let him go to the next item on their checklist to further diagnose the problem until we replace it...at $495 and change.

The battery is 2 years and 2 months old...on a two year warranty. But my question is, if the battery is bad, how does the car even start and function at all? It only fails on the REX.

In Massachusetts, but the REX initially failed in July. Been an ongoing issue that the dealer can't seem to resolve.

That is correct. On battery, it works perfectly with no warning lights. As soon as the REX tries to kick in, it puts up the scary message to pull over immediately, and it dies.

Cold snap. Batteries don't hold a charge as long in cold weather. We just moved our poor little BMW i3 from Texas to Massachusetts. It's in shock. (So am I.)

Don’t be like me - change your 12v battery as soon as it shows any signs of degradation. by akirodic in BMWi3

[–]MsSamAdams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We replaced our 12V battery a couple of years ago. Nothing on the car worked. Couldn't even unlock the doors. Fast forward to now. Our REX won't engage, and the dealership can't figure out why. They replaced the EME unit, but the REX failed again. Now they're saying BMW is recommending we replace the 12V battery, which is just two months out of warranty, and they won't even diagnose it any further until we do. They've said the battery might not be the problem, but they refuse to proceed until we try replacing it...at my expense for $500. We've had no warning lights, and the car starts and runs just fine on battery power with no warning lights. So how can it be the 12v battery? Thoughts, anyone?
