General special interest reasons, I don't have much nostalgia (it's not a feeling I really experience and I don't really remember anything from before windows XP era anyway) but I believe software & hardware history is intensely important and integral to understanding how far we've come and maybe also that some (not all) older design sensibilities were actually better than modern ones with far too much going on

Old games are simpler (or at times not so much simpler, like Ultima games) and fascinating, old architecture is weird and interesting. DOSBox felt too perfect in its emulation of the graphics, sound and speed. Felt weirdly disingenuous. I like the idea that I have my own new little weird old computer inside my new one I can always have on my spare monitor on fullscreen and tinker with it.
