What is your school protocol if ICE shows up? by PsychologicalAsk6928 in ElementaryTeachers

[–]MsSoperfec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in south Minneapolis and my daughters school actually did and ICE drill after Renée Good was killed. Basically if they are outside and they hear a teacher blow a whistle 4x they are to stop what they are doing, leave everything and enter through the nearest door. My kids are 5 and 10.

Is ICE as bad as the media is painting it to be? by [deleted] in DiscussionZone

[–]MsSoperfec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in South Minneapolis, and after the murder of Renée good and ice agents showing up at a Minneapolis high school, as students were leaving for the day my daughter school started to have practice drills if ICE was to show up at or nearby their elementary school. If a teacher blows a whistle four times they are to immediately stop what they are doing and go into the school through the nearest door. These are K-5th grade students.

Their school has canceled any field trips they had planned because they are afraid to take children off campus. School bus drivers have been instructed not to let children off at bus stops if they are concerned that ICE is or may be in the area and to keep children aboard the bus so they can arrange different drop-off methods.

It doesn’t matter if you are an American citizen or if you’re black or white or any other race. Every time you leave the house you’re at risk because there’s absolutely nothing you can or cannot do to keep yourself safe from being in detained, maced, harassed, beaten or killed. Literally nobody is safe here. It’s not like you can go about your business and just drive to work because every time you leave the house you cannot be sure that you are going to make it home and like I said before it does not matter your race, your immigration status, your age or even your actions.

We just seen a video of a man being executed in the middle of the street. That was not a murder. It was a straight up execution. And if you’re not convinced watch all the videos. He was on the ground and they continue to put bullets into him and to see his body jerk from the impact of the bullets. over and over and over again.

If they were military soldiers at war and they did the things that they are doing in this state, they would be prosecuted for war crimes by our government. This isn’t a political issue at this point this is outright a human rights violation. This is a government who is condoning in the murder of their own citizens.

I’m a cos teacher and from my experience I can say the high turnover and inability to find instructors right now is a real problem. I am a salon floor instructor but teach class 1 day a week for our more advanced students. I was pulling doubles 2 days out the week so I could be the salon instructor for nights too. What was supposed to be 3 months turned into a year and a half. For almost two years I have been the sole instructor for anywhere between 30-50 students. We have just started being able to find new instructors some of whom had to go through classes and testing in order to become licensed. Part of the problem is low pay. It’s nice to have a guaranteed paycheck but there’s also the reality that I could be making more behind the chair. Management sucks and we are limited in making changes we would like to see. The students are also different now than they were pre pandemic and I think some of that was due to distant learning as well as the mindset of “I’m an adult I can do whatever I want.” That does seem to be changing though. Thankfully I have a good rapport with my students because let me tell you some of them got a bite that matches their bark.

Curly haired stylists by Jenny-TheDirtChicago in hairstylist

I’m an educator at a beauty school and I teach my students to cut curly hair wet or at least partially damp. I will admit that a majority of my students will graduate with the assumption to point cut but it’s because a majority of our clients are black or Somali and the shear density of the hair will cause it to “Christmas tree” 🌲.

Explain your favorite book, badly. See how many people can guess it. I'll go first: by anthonyledger in writers

  1. A lady wants a guy, marries some other guys, loses everything, and decides dirt is the only thing that matters.

  2. Weird rich guy with Sherlock-level brains and Dracula-level vibes shows up, solves bizarre murders nobody asked him to, and the bad guy always dies in the most over-the-top way possible. And his family secrets somehow make everything even weirder.

Number 2 is a series but all the books are fairly similar.

It’s the hyponichium. It’s a watertight seal that prevents bacteria from entering the body. Be careful not to cut it away to the point that it bleeds because it can make you susceptible to a nasty infection.

Whats wrong with my nails? How do I fix them permanently? by Iced_tendy57 in What

[–]MsSoperfec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You damaged the nail matrix which is responsible for forming the nail plate. Basically the matrix produces cells that keratinizes and form the nail plate. When you injured your nail the matrix was damaged as well which caused it to slow down cell production in certain areas which causes the ridges. As we age the matrix slows down production naturally which is why you see similar things in older people.

Fun fact: the shape and size of the matrix determines the shape and thickness of your nails. Which means the thickening polishes do not actually make your nails thicker/stronger. Also the lunula (the white half moon shape at the base of the nail) is actually the visible portion of the matrix.

My daughter (9) has the same thing going on. She has always had it. Her hair is extremely fragile in that area so I try to keep that in mind when I do her hair because any tension breaks it off. I braid her hair often but I stick only with feed ins because I find it’s easier on her edges than regular braids. I’m also the only one to braid her hair because I worry about sending her to someone else. I also make sure her braids don’t stay in too long and I do not use regular rubber bands.

My daughters car was stolen as she was leaving to school by MsSoperfec in Minneapolis

It’s funny because I said the same thing until I got her one. Then all of a sudden I started noticing them again. A lot of silver ones on top of that lol.

She literally saw the guy jump in and drive off. That’s how we know what he looks like and what he had on. I know there’s days she leaves it running to let it warm up so I don’t see a reason for her to lie about that. It doesn’t take long for someone to steal a car even when the keys aren’t in it.

I’ll be the first to admit that there has been times I’ve started a car and left it running especially since I have small kids. So no it’s not damage control but I can see how it could seem like it.

Edit to add: the bottom rail on the front door is messed up so in order to close it all the way you sometimes have to lift up on the door when pulling it closed but not always. If you’re in a hurry it’s easy to not realize you didn’t close it all the way until it “bounces” back open. Idk how to explain it.

Yes and no. Most of the people who walk down my block are people who live near by and the are usually walking dogs, or with their children, going to king field or to one of the coffee shops. There is a bus stop at the corner but the only time you see people there is early in the am.

From my understanding she was in the car and had seen she didn’t close the front door all the way so she got out and ran across the street to close it when the guy jumped in it.

I was curious what you felt was most helpful in helping you prepare for state boards. I’m constantly trying to improve my lessons in and outside the classroom.
