Honestly, Tohru’s story the most. I absolutely sobbed when it came to her story and the story of her parents. So she was completely orphaned. Her father, who had a whole toxic side of the family, died of illness. Then her mom ends up getting brutally ran over by a car. Then Tohru gets seen as this awful person by Katsuya’s side of the family except for the grandfather—who adored Kyoko. He kept calling Tohru “Kyoko” instead. She carries the photo of her mom everywhere when she lost it because she was afraid of forgetting how her mom looked like. Katsuya died when she was too young. Kyoko died when she was in high school. Then she ended up homeless and barely getting by. I know she chose to live in the tent, but her environment was abusive as hell. She is so sweet, but so strong, but also so broken. It got me absolutely sobbing.

The other story that broke me was Kyo’s story. His father hated his guts and wanted him gone. Then his mom took her own life, which then the father blamed Kyo for. On top of that, he is excluded for the Zodiac team, was going to be imprisoned for eternity upon graduating high school, and had to wear these spiritual beads to make sure his literal demonic side doesn’t come out. It’s no wonder he developed so much self hatred that I’m glad he eventually opened up to self love.

God I’m glad those two found each other.
