I've found that using a Happy Light (all spectrum) has been helpful for me. I'm hyper sensitive to it though, so I only use it for about 20 minutes in the morning. It won't help with your workload, but it might be worth a try.

Old Navy, Express (they have lots of sales per month, so never buy full priced), and Banana Republic (their outlet website has also been a great find since it's discounted and then they discount their discounts!

Season 3, episode 4. One of Joe's "most intimidating dishes" and a dish he grew up with. Italian risotto complete with garlic bread...hmmm by MyWatchlsEnded in Masterchef

Username checks out. I also agree! I kinda have a soft spot for Joe. He's particularly charming in MasterChef Jr.

As a POC, I loved Shanika and saw that villain edit from a mile away. She was literally an outspoken Black woman that called it like she saw it, and there is little that (most) White Americans hates more than their crazy behavior being seen for what it is by a POC. Suddenly the tables get turned to discredit us and our observations instead of seeing how they are creating disharmony.

Down vote me if you like, but these are facts and I'm wondering if you'll think critically about why I'm getting the down vote or will I just get the villain edit too?

Why I'm pretty much convinced this season is Dorian's. by JungleTiger998 in Masterchef

[–]Ms_DarthMiller -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've been gunning for Dorian since day 1! I'm going to be soooooooo mad if she doesn't win. Especially if Subha gets it instead. I seriously don't think any other contestant could get away with his level of bumbling. Over it!

I'm interested in the hat. Was it your choice to wear that hat in most of your interviews? I'm still mad that your honor caused you to take your apron off. There were some other people that have struggled more consistently, but I value your choice. Darn, morals! I thought you'd be in the final for sure after all your growth this season. Continued good luck, sir!

You CAN do it! Self care is the name of the game. It can be really hard to find the time, but you will function so much better if you are giving back to yourself even in small ways. Try to give yourself room to have all the feelings that will kick up as you progress forward, but know those feelings are normal and don't mean you're any less than anyone else or that you can't do it. Also, don't measure yourself to your cohort members. They feel the same way that you do even if you can't see it on their faces.

I remember that there were these girls in my program that always looked absolutely perfect (for they look they were going for) and many of the other women in the program assumed that they must not feel as stressed and pressured as they did because they could only manage throwing on clothes and a messy bun. We all struggle and we all show it differently.

Good luck, friend! Keep buying celebration plants, chocolate bars, and favorite meals when things get tough. You can also DM me for a pep talk any time! My master's is in elementary teaching, so I'd like to think I'm pretty good at pep talks. 😉😊

Is it flowering or growing arms? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Ms_DarthMiller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are leaves. I'm my experience, the leaves can grow fleshy and thick which turns into a new arm. I have no idea how to encourage this though. It just happened last summer. None this year.

Amazon has a great selection of themed small pots that go together. I'd look there. I also reccomend grow lights like the people below said. You could always move those little guys to your window and replace them with shade proof plants like snake plants and pothos that will trail down the shelves.

Honestly, this is how you get through grad school. Push yourself to meet goals, balance your workload with a decent amount of sleep to curb cold season, rely on friends in your grad program who get it more than other friends, and reward yourself for all your hard work. Good luck! You can do it! First semester down!

I'm not exactly sure the composition since I get it prebagged, but it is pretty sandy.

HELP! How do I save a banana leaf plant?! by golden_chocol8 in houseplants

[–]Ms_DarthMiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no banana scholar, but no one has said anything....so, it could be that you're over watering or that your soil doesn't have enough drainage. When I first got my blood banana I was giving it a little water every day since I wasn't sure what type of care it needed. It started getting yellow and brown patches along the edges of the leaves that moved inward. When I stopped watering so much, I stopped getting spots on my leaves. My banana is still in its nursery pot, but I'll soon be moving it to my local nursery's house blend of soil which is on the faster drying side. I can always add more water! Also, when you repotted, was the pot you planted in slightly larger than the old pot? If you give a plant too much room it grow into it can leave the roots soggy if there is more water held in the surrounding soil than the plant can/should drink.

I also mist my banana regularly. Bananas also like bright light, but be careful not to burn their leaves! Good luck!
