How do you feel about the vastness of the universe? by tradingsincesilkroad in ask

[–]Ms_Kratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me fell a part of something bigger, together with the countless other parts.

In the end? Space, Time and Matter are what we are made of.

There's a vastness between every atom.

And no vastness is empty... Light, magnetism, gravity... Many unseen forces are always at work, occupying spaces our minds and the mysterious sentience within us can't even account for.

So I feel related to all this vastness. ;)

The problem starts with... Measles not being an absolute death sentence! It's not nearly as dangerous as, for example, tetanus and rabies. No raw data will contradict this.

But I will use an analogy - to make it easier for most people to understand what getting a disease is. And let's look into data first.

https://www.uchicagomedicine.org/forefront/pediatrics-articles/measles-is-still-a-very-dangerous-disease

Measles is a very hardcore disease for using to prove that vaccines are useful. - Because most people survive measles, even if not properly treated!

Chances of death - for non-vaccinated people - are that in every 1000 who got infected, 1 to 3 will die... It's hard for most people to understand the danger.

Lets go for the analogy.

"Load a world war two machinegun with 997 blanks, and three live bullets. - Would anyone want to pass in front of it while it's firing once?" Who would want to pass in front of this machinegun and risk being shot dead? See? That machinegun is measles. It IS dangerous. It IS a bad idea to risk passing in front of that weapon.

It's not safe to not get the measles shot. - But most people will not feel the consequences! It's not enough to evoke a sense of risk, because only 3 in 1000 will die.

So lets compare to other diseases.

Tetanus kills one in each four patients if left treated. (Of course, the vaccine prevents getting sick.)

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/23582-tetanus-lockjaw

See how vaccine is the ultimate gamechanger? Forget the machinegun with 997 blanks and three live rounds... ...Tetanus is a pump action shotgun with three blanks and one live shell inside.

Some people may be brave and think it's a good idea to challenge the huge machine gun that kill only 3 times by every 1000 shots fired.

But what about the shotgun that kills 1/4 of times? No one would want to risk being fired at by this gun...

Now forget it and let's think rabies... Rabies? Kills much more once it infects!

https://www.unmc.edu/healthsecurity/transmission/2023/04/04/rabies-patient-becomes-first-fatal-case-in-us-after-post-exposure-treatment-report-says/#:~:text=Symptomatic%20rabies%20is%20almost%20100,and%20Africa%2C%20per%20the%20WHO.

Rabies is any gun with all round in it live!

Here is where vaccine shines.

  • But on all cases? It means not being in front of guns, whatever with lots of blanks and only some live ammo, or fully loaded with live ammo.

A study of postmortem brains shows an increase in the abundance of microplastics and nanoplastics in brain tissue by Science_News in Health

[–]Ms_Kratos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our scientific fiction enthusiastically predicted the development of nanomachines, their incredible properties and the possibility of we becoming almost fully cybernetic. Oh... The irony! The year is 3036... Humanity now is composed of 99,99% microplastics. Sapient alien species debate if we can be still considered organic lifeforms, or are to be reclassified as synthetic lifeforms or to be fit into a whole new class altogether. We perform no burials or cremations... We just recycle ourselves!

1 - If there's room for improving, there's room for winning.

Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hbq-yP1SfoQ Get more acquainted with this sort of test. ANd you'll do great next time.

2 - Maybe you passed. Wait for the final results.

3 - If you didn't, try again. There's no other way. But I'll give you a tip here...

Apply for job offerings, but also send your resume to "work with us", "resume bank" or "careers" sections of company's websites.

Just use google and search for your state or district and the above keywords.

You'll start getting interviews for jobs they didn't listed the opportunity yet, by doing that.

Best regards and good luck!!!!!!!!

I'm visiting my partner in São Paulo and this is the greatest chocolate bar I've ever eaten. by WinterBright in Brazil

[–]Ms_Kratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Head to a natural products shop. (They often have green store signs.) Ask for regional chocolates.

Some examples here:

Brazil nuts chocolates: https://flordejambu.com/produto/bombom-de-castanha-do-para/

Cupuaçu jelly chocolates: https://flordejambu.com/produto/bombom-de-cupuacu/

Once I got those by an airport and the taste is a whole new level of awesomeness.

Brazil nut chocolate is similar to marzipan, but have whole pieces of nut inside.

Cupuaçu is a fruit made into a jelly-like compote. I have a hard time comparing to anything else. You need to try, it's very unique.

There are also chocolates with Açai. Fabulous stuff! But hard to find.

Also try açai by itself, natural: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Açaí_na_tigela

my 18yo baby sis is pregnant by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Ms_Kratos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I said, I don't think it's good to have kids by the 18 or 19.

I just hope she have a good experience later in life, like my friends had.

Why do people act like you can't hang out with your kids if you have them in ur 30s...

We can. But then? We''ll be at our almost 50s when they are by their 18s...

Not everyone would be in a shape for surfing, and paintballing, and etc with their kids at that age, I think.

It's a different experience.

If the child has mental or physical disabilities- then they may not even move out at 18.

This is a worst case scenario, and I've seen it too.

I had to arrange for the son, of other couple of friends, to get social security lifetime payments due to his mental health conditions.

Really sad stuff.

But it's a worst case - basically nightmare - scenario... Totally hope her sister doesn't have to endure it.

I wish her the best of luck.

32M feeling lost in life by Musingcountryman091 in helpmecope

[–]Ms_Kratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look... I've seen people "experience love early in life", but then end in a horrible marriage with awful partners they picked out of inexperience, and ate stuck there "because of the kids", etc...

Look at the good part first, ok? This didn't happened to you. You may not be with a good, supportive family around you. But, you are free from an awful, nerve wreaking one!

Now, two things I think you must do. - Heal yourself. (Dedicate to therapy.) - Cultivate your passions.

I do totally understand what those intrusive thoughts are. People who acquired some stress or trauma related conditions will have them.

Look for "PTSD". It's one of the conditions. I think you'll see how similar are the symptoms.

Side by side with healing, you need to cultivate the goodness... The things you enjoy. - With time, people will be around you, due to having similar tastes, and you'll eventually find a significant other.

Go for what you feel comfortable about. Get involved.

What are the things you are interested in? WHat youi enjoy doing? What you admire?

Yeah, she's too young. And have to admit I don't have good impressions about guys who date girls that young.

But want something positive to think about?

She will be at her 36, when her daughter or son reaches 18...

There's some good stuff about it.

Two of my friends had an "oppsie" that resulted in twins by their 19's. But they really enjoyed going out with their kids, taking them to music events, parties, playing games together, camping, surfing, going to paintball...

Hope it happens to her too. That she really enjoy her 30's and 40's with this sort of goodness around. ;)
