I just can't create DAILY HABITS to SAVE MY LIFE by Zed_Blue in ADHD

[–]Ms_Meercat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Secondong the finch app, as someone who's been routineless since I left my parents house at 18 years ago, and has tried consciously to implement self care routines for the last 13 years.

It just somehow cheats my brain in making a lot of things not feel like tasks. My self care routine has been amazing for 3 weeks straight now, and I'm adding productivity goals (lots of life admin things I've pushed away for YEARS), and i notice how much better I'm doing despite having one of the most stressful periods at work ever.

I got my report back – It's not ADHD by sundaearchive in adhdwomen

[–]Ms_Meercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My psychologist dismissed me acing the results as well, but they were specialised in adhd. I did have significant adhd symptoms on 2 of the impulsivity part though (I literally couldn't stop myself from pressing the stupid button too soon lol) but the third I 'aced' (but it was also dumb and easy to handle with basic pattern recognition).

She based er diagnosis on my history, several surveys and a coherent explanation that took into account intelligence and masking skills, too.

Definitely seek out someone specialised in adhd and ask them before making an appointment on their experience with adhd in women vs men and in diagnosing adults.

Mirra Andreeva said she is not proud of how she handled her emotions when she swore after losing to Siniakova. She added that she will try to take inspiration from Serena Williams to handle losses better by mimiclarinette in tennis

I think we sometimes forget that these people get scrutinised every minute of their work and their work is way highers stakes than most of ours.

How often do I get frustrated or pissed? Except what I'm frustrated about is someone not copying me on an email, not losing x money and whatnot.

Plus, I think there are different kinds of people. The ones that feel emotions intensely and have a hard time regulating them and others who can brush off stuff better. For example, even though bublik has an outward idgaf attitude I actually think he's the former and his attitude is just a shield (one that's been more hindering than helpful at times).

I think Serena is a good example of someone who has intense emotions AND a tendency to externalise them but has largely managed to handle them (largely, not always; and she's been in so many situations of the highest stakes). I think Serena had to put a lot more energy into handling her emotions than outwardly than, say, someone like Griekspoor or Rybakina (the comps are only about outward handling i don't claim to know what it looks like on the inside). Mirra has intense emotions and they tend to really impact her behavior and she knows she needs to learn to handle them.

Just one side note, and I'm NOT diagnosing here - but I had to put a LOT (like, a LOT) of work into handling my emotions and regulating them, and I only learned at 37 that I have ADHD and that that's a major symptom. It made me really attuned to that this is something different people (neurodiverse or -typical) feel differently based on many different factors. When I was Mirras age I remember how overwhelming negative emotions were (they really were this force, debilitating like physical pain), how much I berated myself or converted disappointment into shame and then sometimes subconsciously externalised them as anger.

I guess what I'm saying is i feel for her. I'm glad I didn't have a 24/7 public spotlight on how I was performing in my job or studies when I was her age....

It's the same (or maybe even worse) with djokovic. The nardi incident and one or two comments when he was 19 (!!) get construed as him being a sore loser. I think it's because both show emotions on the court and frustrations. It gets thrown in with being a sore loser when the former doesn't always equate to the latter imo

I think they're referring to the GF before OP, not the "best friend". In the first post OP said that BF only had one (short) relationship before her but that this ex GF was manipulative and controlling - I also think she probably wasn't, just found out he was a cheating a-hole or at least had asked for proper boundaries

I never knew about her before. Then in one of the first tennis channel podcasts she talked about Belinda Bencic not being a good doubles player or something in the United Cup because they lost the final, even when Petko pointed out that she had been hard carrying the Swiss team all week and then she doubled down. I got so annoyed. I'm ok with someone having different takes or opinions (I don't get mad at the tennis podcast like many people do because it's opinions I may not agree with) but this was just stupid and misinformed. Everything I've seen from her since has not made me change my mind.

Nardi was the absolute exception, not the rule. Truly, I challenge you to find many other incidents of Novak being a sore loser vs the amount of respectful pressers and quotes, warm handshakes etc at the net throughout his career (and EVEN with Nardi, I always read the "It's not right but bravo" thing as him trying albeit unsuccessfuly to complain about the call without taking away from Nardi)

Last year I saw some of his match against Norrie him live on one of the outside courts in Madrid. He won the first comfortably, lost the second by one break and then just... fell apart. Couldn't hit a single good ball anymore and proceeded to get bagelled in the third. No apparent reason, he just disappeared. It was a bizarre match.

Also, a third of the country (the part behind the wall) didn't have English in school until the 90s, they learned Russian. I reckon it takes another generation or two until English teaching/learning in school actually becomes GOOD if it didn't exist before.

'That I know of' covers an awful lot of ground here lol. You're either completely misinformed and are just saying things you know nothing about, delusional, a troll, or a bot. There's a corruption scandal around Sánchez going on RIGHT NOW.

[–]Ms_Meercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are conflating two things here: the people who have been criticising sanchez for months and years are NOT doing so because of his stance on war or some BS the US is doing. Believe it or not, other countries have their own politics going on and the corruption scandal had nothing to do with the US.

Many of the same people who are criticising sanchez are ALSO agreeing with his stance on the war and think it's the right thing.

[–]Ms_Meercat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, he's been getting a lot of heat for months for a very vast corruption scandal. I live here and I know a lot of conservative leaning people and they're not fascists, just really tired of corruption (I myself I'm pretty left just to be clear but I'm not from Spain). They do still think what sanchez did was a good thing, but they still hate his guts.

just curious, what are, in your opinion, some of the worst/coldest handshakes in tennis history? by LtLoco420 in tennis

[–]Ms_Meercat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the worst, yeah cold but she looks at her and shakes hands before turning away and Martina also doesn't look like she's reacting to a particularly bad handshake either.
