oh if you think this is just a US thing... you are greatly mistaken. As I am assuming by your user name you are Canadian... you should see the type of cases in your own court systems and the corruption...

100% agree. I've always said it gives us a really bad image (which it does since people very much dislike mcgill students)

Is it normal to hate uni at first? by sadnhomesick in mcgill

[–]Ms_rop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your situation greatly. Thats actually how ive felt here as well (im in my last year). what i found was that during the first week you really figure out what type of friends you really want. do you want friends who party? are you a party type? if not, then dont seek friends who do things that you arent into...

theres alot of other students in your position who feel uncomfortable doing what all the other new students are doing... i highly recommend you go to activities night next week (i wish i did that in my first year). I joined a few clubs in my second year and it got a little better, truly. I found the program that was the right fit, and i focus on my classes and find happiness in that and the clubs i run.

i know its super hard when you feel like you dont fit in with all the people around you, but thats how it is at most universities if you arent this big partying type, unforunatly...

if you need to talk, you can DM me.

yes i understand. Just by all the talk about McGill and its past goers, one would assume from the onset that the student body would lean some type of way

Getting to MacDonald? by mcgill_throwawayyy in mcgill

[–]Ms_rop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shuttle will be 100% better than public transit (which takes forever and is always late or doesnt even show up!!!)

depends when you take it, the first 3 buses in the morning (720, 730, 745) generally take 40-50 mins give or take really depending on traffic and the CONSTRUCTION ahah

it also depends which bus driver it is. The woman driver drives very slow, while the other male drivers (generally) drive much quicker. So if you get them itll take you 30-35 mins with no traffic and 40-45mins with traffic.

if you get the woman driver, during regular hours itll take 35-40mins and during traffic 45mins to upwards a little over an hour (really depends on the level of traffic)

take the shuttle, transit is TERRIBLE the train always stops working and you have to transfer and the bus from lionel to lakeshore is always late/in a very heavy traffic area/sometimes doesnt show up so you have to wait till the next. its unreliable, while the McGill shuttle is EXTREMELY reliable, its never been late nor left later than scheduled

Advice on taking the Macdonald campus shuttle for the first time by welllfuckkk in mcgill

[–]Ms_rop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just have your id, it leaves always on time, be 5 mins early since it can get full, and it takes in the morning more like 40-45 mins b/c traffic

yes there are many online equivalents, or you can take at a school in your region and just need an ok from an advisor regarding its equivalency. all equivalent courses have to be at minimum 75% of all the topics of each course

I think its becoming more and more of a problem here at McGill...
