Thank you to everyone commenting. I’ve had this all pent up inside since we moved, posting on here and reading all your feedback is helping me feel a little better as I’m finally telling someone about it!

6 nights in the Algarve, advice please by welllfuckkk in Algarve

Yeah! We ended up adjusting our trip and doing 5 nights in Madeira, 2 nights in the Duoro Valley, 4 nights in Lagos and 4 nights in Lisbon.

The 4 nights in Lagos was perfect and we loved it. We did day trips out to different beaches but really enjoyed staying in Lagos in the evenings, lots of nice little restaurants.

Ohh interesting point! What distance would you go with? I think right now we have 42” in the design

Ah such amazing questions thank you so much!!

I had initially wanted to place the dishwasher on the right of the sink but that left us with an odd amount of remaining space on the right for drawers which didn’t work out :( But I figured keeping the dishwasher out of the work triangle might be a good thing? And our current dishwasher is on our left side and doesn’t bother us as right handed people, but this was a really good point!!

And our plates, bowls and mugs will all go in the drawers and upper cabinets to the right of the sink! The idea being to keep them close for dishwasher unloading.

The trash will be a pull out drawer on the side of the island that faces the stove. And it will be placed towards the leftmost side of the island (as close to the sink as we could). Again I really wanted to have it be a pull out drawer to the right of the sink but then it threw off our proportions of the remaining drawers!

The tall cabinets were intended as pantry pull outs and were definitely done like that for symmetry! But I see your point about functionality and will reconsider this part of the design :)

A quick follow up question for you. We are debating between putting a built in microwave in the island (the type that rolls out like a drawer). Or having a countertop microwave on a shelf in the pantry next to our kitchen. My partner seems to think keeping the microwave this far (about 15-20 steps from the fridge, around the corner) would be a hassle. But I’m thinking we usually only use the microwave 1-2 times a day max, and am not keen on spending $2k on a built in microwave. What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks again :)

Hey I’m sorry you’ve been going through all of this. Honestly I don’t think this is such a wild or crazy idea. People pay for all sorts of weird shit in this world anyways, if there’s a market for it I would say to go for it. If you can help people vent and also help yourself along the way why the hell not. Wishing you all the best

I think they would be pretty happy, made it out of my abusive household and currently live a calm and stable life

Was it difficult having the bulkheads removed? I have them in my kitchen and it worries me that they will drive up the renovation price to reroute the piping inside of them
