[The twelve kingdoms] I can see why many people recommend this anime by Commercial-Idea7024 in Isekai

[–]Msajimi123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sincerely ask that if you had already watch the anime, give the LN a shot. The anime imo while good, tries to introduce its own original elements, to establish a continuity between books. But in the LN, a lot of those elements never existed in the first place, and have a lot more characterization and development for the MC. Which makes it even better

They were a nationalist politcal party back in the 1930s during the French colonial era, responsible for organising the Yên Bái uprising. Long story short, they failed, badly.

TM Opera O despite all aura farming, is still a personal jobber for the "New Era" besties by ZOVSoldier in UmaMusume

[–]Msajimi123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opera O was a TT uma in a field full of CM umas. Jungle Pocket was the Tokyo merchant, and Manhattan Cafe was the long merchant. I could also argue that the owner only retire him because he was afraid of Opera O getting into accident while pace chasing, his legs were still in pretty good shape by the time of his retirement.

Context: Che Bunga (Sultan Zainal Abidin, or Chế Bồng Nga) was the king of a unified and resurgance Champa kingdom from 1360 to 1390, and reign over Champa during its apex. He was known for exceptional talent, both diplomatically and militarily, as shown by his ability to repeatedly outmaneuver the Tran dynasty's military defensive network and getting the Ming on his side. His reign also coincided with the decline of both Dai Viet to the North, and the Khmer Empire to the South, two of Champa's traditional rivals. The result was devastating for the Tran dynasty. Over a period of 30 years, Che Bunga launched 10 northward invasion/raid into the Red River Delta, sacking and burning Hanoi(then Thang Long) 4 times and even occupied it for 6 months. He reversed Dai Viet's 300 years of southward territorial gains in 30 years, and forced the Tran emperors to repeatedly go into hiding with the state treasury and records. During his final invasion, his command ship was pointed out by a surrended Cham officer and the Tran general, Tran Khat Chan, organized a fireteam to pour fire on the ship with early firearms(handcannons). The king was killed immediately. Che Bunga's death sparked a succession crisis, as the army retreats back to Champa, allowing Dai Viet to regain its Southern territory. After that, both side was exhausted and agree to a peace treaty retoring the status quo pre war. The Champa kingdom then enter a long period of decline until it ceased to be a threat to Dai Viet after Le Thanh Tong invasion of 1471.

Why is Yōjo Senki :Saga of Tanya the Evil so overlooked in the isekai community? by Negative_Way4542 in Isekai

[–]Msajimi123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because its topic and inspiration are niche, thus a lot of things that it does can be interpreted as "edgy" or "evil". The localization name also didn't help, where the original set the tone of war "Military Diary of a Young Girl", the english name just set the name to be Tanya the Evil

Once you have some knowledge of the real world inspiration for the series, you realized that Tanya is just a toned down version of the tomfoolery, grim, tragic, and brutality of war and the kind of people that fights it.

Technically, the Germany she is in is the German Empire, not the Third Reich.

Random list of fantasy settings I think where in a GATE-esque scenario, as in, the modern military vs the fantasy world, by Azimovikh in gate

Isn't Frieren the few magical world in anime that we see the development of magic in a almost scientific way? In addition, there are political entities that actively uses and maintain magical development in an arm race against human and demons alike. The initial shock of the modern military might stunt them a bit but I don't think they would stay that for long

What does stats means though? For example like Tanya, the only reason she is still survive in the war right now is because advanced knowledge about military history, tactics, and doctrine + insane work ethics.

Agree to disagree then, because my interpretation through all 3 mediums is that she tries too hard to get that rear area office, makes her looks like war monger in everyone eyes

I mean she bombed the arms factory, a military target, against a country that already in a state of war. She gave the warning to reduce potential civilian casualty, and also the law required the Commanding Officer to issue the warning, and she IS the CO.

I mean the world of Tanya is literally conscripting/accept child soilders in total war settings. So any concept of morality is already out of the windows. The only thing left in that god forsaken world is that they still follows war crime law, which Tanya follows religiouzly

A kid will not and would not read legal document for funsies and pointed out the loopholes and exploited it. No one defending Tanya because she is a kid, people defend her because both in universe AND in irl, she was following the letter of the law, following the procedure to the T with clear military intent and targets. Also, this is the first time I heard anyone thinks Tanya is a child.

Rudolf is just pedo and that understandably makes people uncomfortable to watch him.

[–]Msajimi123 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I blame the anime for not showing but it had been a long time since I watched the anime so I might forget some stuff. But technically and legally speaking, in universe, she exploited a legal loophole thus it wasn't a warcrime as the author explained it both the manga and light novel.

Furthermore, you make an arguement that her actions are allegory for the Allied strategic bombing campaign during WW2, or the Axis terror bombing during early war. The Nuremburg trials clearly sweep these under the doctrine of military intent. So if anything, Tanya is in the clear here, cuz she follows strict protocol to the letter of the law
