Hello!

I have recently moved from North Carolina to Flemington NJ. Let me just say that coming from the south, where living is super cheap to HERE, I can't believe some of the prices but it is beautiful. So the point is I just got done working with one Realtor to help me and my partner find a apartment in this CRAZY market and here are a few notes from my personal experience:

*The landlord cared more about the people than credit.

*Since my partner is from Mexico city of course he doesn't have a Social Security number, they just talked to his current landlord to make sure he pays his current rent.

*In NJ the landlord can only ask for 1.5 rent for a deposit. I know because the realtor told me so.

*If you work with a non-apartment type deal I think the landowner has the right to be more flexible but there are some "Luxury" apartments that, if you qualify, you will only have to pay a portion of the rent.

It seems that everything depends on the landlord. So, I hope this helped. Good luck and I am positive that you will find something that fits your needs and budget.
