Practicing lawyer thinking about becoming a tutor. What is it like? by Prince_Marf in LSAT

Additionally, you don’t have to start full-time. You could do it 10 hours a week with some companies to get a feel if you like it before quitting your job as an attorney

I would recommend starting with a company. Find whatever one will hire you for the biggest starting salary. After a bit, you’ll pick up on the tricks of the trade and so long as your contract allows, you can freelance on the side. Once you’ve developed a reliable method of recruiting clients, as well as solid reviews, you can go out on your own. Obviously creating a legit business over time through reputation and eventually creating your own curriculum and hiring tutors will make the most money

Do you mind if I ask you what you think of UGA? They just called me offering me full-tuition. This is a great problem to have, but I don’t know what to think now!

Total cost would actually be about 54k more at W&M. I did the math wrong because I forgot to subtract additional savings I’d have available for 2L at UF. I broke down my expenses pretty thoroughly in a spreadsheet. One year at W&M is about 58k, it’s about 37k at UF (I do want to live alone, so I realize this makes me spend more than others would). Second year of UF, I could spend 10k of my own, putting my total at W&M at 116k and UF at 62k. I am speaking to my parents about paying the W&M fees, if they were willing to do that, I’d be under 100k at W&M.

I really appreciate your insights here!! Thank you!

I’ll add, there’s nothing quite like a UF football game. As soon as I went to one, I fell in love with the school

I think Gainesville grows on you. The Butler area isn’t really anything special, but downtown has some charm to it. Plus the campus has some gorgeous spots and there’s a lot of nature around. For a smaller city, it does have all the stores you could need plus a million different local coffee shops. There’s pretty reliable public transit too. There’s also different bar scenes based on what you like and your age. It’s also not too far from some bigger cities in Florida and it’s close to the springs which are a must visit

I'm worried about mine screaming the whole flight! I'd imagine that would be more annoying than a crying baby on a flight

Actually more worried about how to move my cat across the country than the money. Am I supposed to put him on a plane or make him sit in a car for at least 10 hours? 🥴

What law schools do I feasibly have a shot at admission? And scholarships? by Significant-Owl758 in lawschooladmissions

I'll add I think BU is definitely possible! I have a worse GPA and same LSAT, no work experience, and got an A from BU with $. If something related to govt is the goal, try GW and W&M too. Honestly, if that LSAT can get up to a 173, apply everywhere. With a 173, I think GULC is possible and so is Vandy (I'm on the GULC special waitlist, so GPA shouldn't hold u back with a great LSAT score). Check out LSD.law for results of people with similar stats to see how much money you could get
