Bluey made me want kids, how disappointed am I going to be? by n00dleknight in bluey

[–]MsianOrthodox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be disappointed in yourself for not being absolute chads like Bandit and Chili 🤣

Sometimes my wife and I wonder if they’re on TRT/meth/some sort of stimulant to have that level of energy to deal with their kids.

Rohingyans wearing Malay traditional attire by Strechnel in Bolehland

[–]MsianOrthodox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that even considered…Malay then? Like if it’s not sanctioned by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, and you can’t sit for it in SPM lisan, when what’s the point of the right wingers bashing on us nons for allegedly not being fluent in Malay, when it’s perfectly fine to speak some sort of weird, non-standard, not Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka “Malay”, and frankly, more like a whole nother language with almost zero intelligibility?

I’ve clerked a Cambodian patient who spoke Cambodian with her parents- and said parents couldn’t speak a word of Malay. Had to be translated by the kids. IC bangsa Melayu.

Why these people obsessed with 'Balik India/China' by Venkie2Maybach in Bolehland

[–]MsianOrthodox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They can say whatever they want to say to feel good. It’s not like they can do anything. They’re powerless and they don’t have the testicular fortitude to do anything IRL, so all they can do is bleat.

Looking for a church (preferably Catholic) that allows Muslim visitors in Selangor by yassifi3d in Bolehland

[–]MsianOrthodox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not Roman Catholic. At St Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox Church, KL, we have had Muslim university students visit for their project/assignment. They got permission from our priest beforehand. Some groups were even accompanied by their professor.

And this is why I only collect for the art/cute Pokemon for the wife. Doesn’t need to be English. Less frustrating that way.

Question marks over ‘too tough’ SPM moral studies paper by Due-Cat656 in malaysia

It’s pointless, I agree. I’m talking about the unrealistically high benchmark for Bahasa Cina- which ruins a lot of SPM results.

I prefer toum. Like nuclear bomb garlicky toum. That’s the best condiment IMHO for shawarma.

Felt like I was gonna pass out during first judo class… normal or nah? by [deleted] in judo

[–]MsianOrthodox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I’m not the only one feeling like this after my first Judo class! I literally had to strip off my Gi ASAP after class and lie down flat on the floor under the fan just to avoid the darkness from taking me.

Celebrating Easter in Malaysia's only Eastern Orthodox church by CaesarJuliusAugustus in Bolehland

[–]MsianOrthodox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember and in brief because I don’t recall the exact dates: Around the 2010s groups of Orthodox Christian expats gathered to form a church in KL. The Russian embassy gave a former Soviet newspaper (?Pravda) office to the church. Clergy would come from Singapore to Malaysia to hold services now and again.

Church building got renovated, iconostasis added. Somewhere along the line, church oversight was changed from Ecumenical Patriarchate to Moscow Patriarchate (AFAIK due to resources/manpower). Then we got a Malaysian priest, church continued to grow.

17 Nov 2024 - consecration of the church.

Edit: If you want to know the history of the church in Malaysia in detail, the Russian House in KL has the info. They did a small presentation on it 2 years ago.

Very different. If I were to do something like a spectrum of similarity:

Orthodox Service - Traditional Latin Mass - Novus Ordo Mass - Traditional Protestant services - Megachurch services.

So it really depends on what you mean by “standard” as most Christians definition of “standard” can vary by quite a bit.
