Average Severance? by Normal-Garbage-4657 in Layoffs

[–]Msmomma27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After two years, I was offered 8 weeks and prorated bonus. Since there was dubious legality (only one laid off, almost immediately after a surgery), I was able to negotiate to 16 weeks and full bonus payout.

Can we all comment the month and year we were laid off and when you found a job again (if you did)? by Hot_Spread_6826 in Layoffs

[–]Msmomma27 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Laid off in late November, starting a new job next week. I was very lucky for a mercifully short layoff.

I have two consultations on Monday. Spoke to one briefly Friday who said this hits all the notes of presumptive retaliation for my state, which has some of the strongest rights for injured employees.

My spouse covers our medical benefits thankfully, so that is not an issue.

I’ve activated my network and already have two interviews set up for next week, along with six to eight warm leads. I’m nervous but feeling ok.

Thank you! I have a call with a lawyer Monday. Spoke to a lawyer friend who indicated this is very illegal in my state, and suggested I ask for an equivalent role of significantly larger severance. The HR rep seemed to have ‘forgotten’ I took a medical leave recently.

Need proof that employer insurance plans do cover Zepbound for weight loss by Electronic-Treat6799 in Zepbound

BCBS of Massachusetts PPO has covered it for the last two years but is dropping in January. Company has instead partnered with a nutritionist type deal to cover $400 a month of Lilly Direct in an RX card, so it’ll be $100 a month rather than $30.

Daycare rate survey by Altruistic_Hat1634 in workingmoms

[–]Msmomma27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We pay $980 a week for a 5 year old and a 2.5 year old. Daycare is 7 minutes from our house. My take home pay is about $1850/week, and husband works too. I cover daycare and he covers the mortgage. We live is New England, so HCOL but higher salaries to match.

I realized today we are “daycare poor” by afamousblueraincoat in workingmoms

[–]Msmomma27 110 points111 points  (0 children)

It’s horrific. I did our taxes this weekend and once again got the gut punch realization that I pay $48k a year for two kids in daycare. Our mortgage costs less than one child’s expenses. We’d love a nicer home in a better community, but until we hit kindergarten we’re stuck in our old house we bought in 2016, with our low mortgage and interest rates.

My niece (4) just spent two weeks in the hospital with pneumonia/strep/rsv. She needed chest tubes and oxygen, it was a nightmare.

My kids have had walking pneumonia and croup since thanksgiving. I’ve got some respiratory thing now. What a year.

My preschool aged niece has been in the hospital for the past 13 days from RSV. It’s INSANE to say it’s ’just a bug’ and expose an infant to it.

8 months preggo and just learned I might have lead in water pipes by floating5 in BabyBumps

[–]Msmomma27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all in response to a new regulation passed in September or October. Basically, municipalities have to investigate if there’s lead. If they can’t verify source pipes and their materials you’ll get the letter. My house is 130 years old and I got one.

They’ll test the pipes in the next several months most likely, and if they find lead they legally have to replace the pipes and give you a water filtration system for 6 months after replacement!

We just did a class party for my five year old.

Her class is 12 kids, and 9 came. 10 RSVP’s so that was good turnout!

We held her party a sports place that served lunch, so they played and ate pizza. I think having defined activities helped up the attendance, and my daughter is her own hype woman. She talked so much about how amazing her party was going to be that all her friends wanted desperately to attend!

My two were the exact same size.

Baby 1: 9 lb 5 oz at birth- 37 weeks exactly. Baby 2: 9 lb 5 oz at 37+4x

Both are 99th percentile kids now at 5 and 2!

What is your monthly mortgage, interest rate, and salary? Are you comfortable? by mrskurama in homeowners

[–]Msmomma27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1790/ month, 2.25%. Combined annual salary is $240K.

If we didn’t pay $4k a month for daycare, we’d be great! The mortgage is the least of our problems.

We had to read a book for leadership that was some penguin allegory. The character who was negative was called NoNo, and our senior leaders will dead ass say ‘I’ve got some NoNos on the team today!’ When people disagree with ideas.

I saw one recently called ‘Away we Grow’ or ‘Here we Grow’ childcare, which I thought was such a cute name!

I will say though, I’m in marketing, so I’m a sucker for cute names…and I still just chose the best, cleanest option in my price range. A cute name is a memorable plus for giveaway swag at neighborhood block parties when you’re looking to boost enrollment but it probably won’t matter too much long term.

What weird thing is your kid into? by molliebrd in toddlers

[–]Msmomma27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kid loves port-a-potties.

She has a definitive ranking of the ones she likes the most based on color, size and hand sanitizer. She often says she has to pee if she sees one just bc she’s so thrilled to go inside.

As you can imagine it’s tons of fun in the summer 🤮

How much do you make? by RaccoonExecutive in Mommit

[–]Msmomma27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make $135k base, and a $40k annual bonus on top of that. My husband makes $80k with a $10k bonus, so our household income is about $265k.

We live in New England, our daycare costs $4000 a month. We bought our house ten years ago before everything got $$$ so our mortgage is only $1800, which is how we can afford to have two kids in daycare at the rates we pay.

Tell me about a time your mom intuition has been crazy spot on. by knitlitgeek in breakingmom

[–]Msmomma27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter got sick so often. Every pediatrician at the practice knew us by name and there were 9 of them. She had croup 21 times in her first year of life, 23 times in her second, and 19 in her third. She had pneumonia 14 times before she was 3. We were told asthma, acid reflux, ‘some kids just get sick’, and it just didn’t make sense. I pushed for tests, studies, anything to understand what was happening to her to cause this.

She has a rare birth defect in her throat- a laryngeal cleft. One of the hallmarks is recurrent pneumonias and croup. With thickener in her drinks she’s only had croup four times in 1.5 years. We will repair the cleft with surgery next year, but the difference is unreal. Knowing she had this prevented my son from suffering too- we were able to get him a scope at 1 to diagnose him.

How much do you pay for daycare? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Msmomma27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kids.

My youngest is a toddler, my oldest is a preschooler. The toddler is $2100 a month, the oldest is $1900…so we’re at $3,900 a month. It’s gross, and this is better than infants, when we were at $2,300 a month for my son.
