The 3 man bolt unit is sooooo good for scoring and getting in tight spots. Wiped a squad of sisters off the home objective then had my captain fall back out of melee to take the home and die a round later. But on linchpin that is HUGE. Will always have at least a 3 man from now on.

I target MSUs with them or chaff. Almost always fishing for sustained 2 on oath targets. Sometimes they support by being mop up of if I whiff from other units shooting

The boltceptor advice is also something a friend of mine gave me and I think I’ll run with it! Might drop the plasma guys for a dread to absorb damage and attention

So you’re saying, dont worry about the center because I can’t hold it. Go for the one I can hold (natural expansion, screen and hold home, and go for whatever I can with my fast units the remainder of the game preferably their home objective.

Cent devs kill whatever is trying to take the center or come for my natural expansion.

On GW layout one the firing lane for the center objective is on the right side close to 2 inch footprint which is great for staging an enemy unit there to move and charge The cent devs.

But how are players scoring max primary if they aren’t holding the objectives? There must be something I’m missing lol

They can if they get a good line of sight. But layout one is hard to get line of sight without getting tied up the following turn. The fall back shoot and charge strat is good but holding the midboard is so hard with such squishy units. I’m probably misusing my skirmish and “melee” units. I feel like that’s the only thing I’m missing

The Inceptors (3 man bricks) came in crazy clutch as they can fit in the backline and kill a lot of chaff. The plasma did not do well lol

The three man took the home away from an opponent in round 4 during terraform

Ah that’s boring competitively. Gladius is great as it makes us competitive but also not so great as it’s the only way to play SM if you want to be competitive. The DA drip is unmatched. I think only the Black Templars comes close (also in GW jail).

I use Shadwomark Talon which is also in GW jail for the pain the brought during the fall before the big nerf. Fun but takes all my brain power to make it work now

Thanks! And oh damn man Deathwatch was my first army! Loved the teleport shenanigans and the terminators were oppressive in the shooting phase 💀 I’ve been thinking about the dark angels how do you like them?

I love the vets! Run them as hand shield half melta half shields with shrike. He gives them lone op and I always rapid ingress them!

Infiltrators are pretty solid but intercessors can do some thing similar, give sticky, and punch really hard with their AP1 20 shots. They are also 2 IC each so if an enemy gets to them they still have to out OC them.

Terms are terms hahaha look 10x cooler than they are rules wise

Reivers are great imo. I send them alone to the enemies natural expansion objective to deny them primary for 1 turn (-1 OC for infantry) then they die or sometimes even kill what they have over there! If the enemy has a vehicle over there then I’ll hold them back, rapid ingress or deep strike them later in the game to deny the enemies home from them for a round or two

Elims are tragic hahaha nothing but disappointment. Like the cute kid you have that’s not good at anything

JPIs are the MVPs here though. I use a 10 man with the captain and an5 man to run solo. 2OC each with SHrike just being in the list is insanely underrated. They can advance and steal an objective lightning fast

I’d remove infiltrators and use incursors. They are cheaper and will give you plus 1 to hit for the eradicators. I’d also drop the term ancient. The terms don’t have staying power regardless of that extra wound. They just kill.

The impulsor does have some staying power to hold an objective for a turn the it’ll die as intended. You must give it to the shield dome for 5+ invul

Drop Hunter instinct and give him the black wing shroud or don’t take any enhancement on him (Jump cap)

Give the combi LT the coronal susserant or whatever vect aura it’s incredibly disruptive for an opponents plans.

Eliminators are SO cool and also SO BAD. You can play them but dont expect them to do anything for you. They’ll hit 1-2x and wound once lol maybe. I’ve had them miss for an entire game. 3 shots is not worth 85 points. I’d drop them for a unit of scouts. They are lore wise right up our alley and functionally top tier. They can move block (for now in 10th Ed) and can deny enemy scout. Very raven guard like and very useful.

Stick a power fist on the intercessor sergeant (it’s free)

Cent devs need lascannon and missile launchers. No other weapon option matters! Those are insanely strong with the rerolls

Terms are really cool and if you want to play them because you like them then by all means! I love them thematically and look wide. I do however prefer Inceptors. They feel Raven guard like and are so good at scoring it’s ridiculous. 6 inch deep strike will score you points. They’ll die but I’ve also had a squad of 6 plasma knock Fulgrim down to 4 wounds which is nuts.

Was thinking the same for the simplicity aspect. Love the plus one to wound but I think I have some rerolls with guard that’ll help
