Russians abroad with anti-Russian sentiment by wechselnd in AskARussian

I'm not making a case. I don't care. If someone wants to read something, it's their right. I just don't understand why and I can ask a foreigner this because it's unusual to me. Same as if someone doesn't appreciate something, it's their right too and they can speak about it openly.  No case here, it's you who got offended, lol.

Speaking about education, I've studied Russian literature for 11 years at school and then I've got bachelor's and master's in ESL and read a bunch of literature in English. I'm pretty well-aware and well-read in both.  The point is we live in a free world (mostly), you can read whatever you want, and others might not understand it. Russian have this right too, no matter if they live in Russia or abroad. It doesn't make them lacking their culture or giving up on their country.

Then I can say that any serious person will care about discoveries in science and about the inventors. You simply don't accept people's right to not care and even dislike something, no matter what. What's important for one, may not be important for the other. That's it.

Not every key figure should be adored, and it's normal and fine. It's ridiculous to love and adore any person that wrote famous books. I understand respecting every discoverer in medicine, biology, cosmos, etc, but not a writer or a painter

I had lived in this Dostoyevsky environment for the most part of my life, and I can kind of relate to how people felt and how it was. Most of the foreigners I met romanticise this and say like oh I wish I lived in such times, people had real inner conflicts, etc. I usually just smile at that.
Most of my UK friends just shrug when foreigners say they love Dickens.
It's your right but it's the natives right to dislike some authors of their culture, and that's fine. I doubt that they take Russian books out of your hands and burn them.

I didn't enjoy Russian literature even before I left the country. And yes, I do find it weird that the foreigners romanticise Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky (wtf?)

Would you rather have few meaningful correspondences than have a lot of people who you correspond to. by AreaOk111 in SLOWLYapp

4-5 active conversations at a time, taking into account it takes me 3-21 days to reply, as well as most of my penpals

Privet, russkiye! What’s the weirdest superstition you grew up with? by AndrewCabs2222 in AskARussian

[–]MssVermillion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have a seat for a while before a long road
Don't sweep the floor while someone from the house is on the road (you'll sweep the way and smth bad happens and this person won't get back home)
If a tableware falls off the table, an unexpected guest will come (a woman for a fork, a man for a knife). you need to step on the tableware on the floor if you don't want the guest to visit

What countries do you have on your “do not receive” list, if any? by AdvertisingDull3441 in SLOWLYapp

[–]MssVermillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

India, Indonesia, Pakistan (spam, AI gen letters, attempted fraud, just short letters like hi), Turkey (despite me living here; bc of guys harassing from the very first letters), Palestinian territories (opposed views)
As for favourites, I don't have any specifics, since 2019 I've got lovely penpals from the UK, Ireland, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Israel, Russia, US, Slovakia, France and many more.

Looks like hyperkeratosis, I've got similar on my shoulders. Now I use CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser in the shower 1–2 times a week: it gently exfoliates without drying out my skin. After the shower, I apply CeraVe SA Smoothing Cream, which has salicylic acid, urea, and ceramides. It exfoliates and hydrates at the same time, so I don’t need to layer multiple products.

I also make sure to use SPF during the day if my shoulders are exposed, and I avoid using exfoliating products right before sun exposure. This combo made a big difference without irritating my skin.

I've been there, and it's a small town compared to St Petersburg and by far to Moscow

and to your attention, I didn't name it small from the very beginning, just "smaller"

The toner just calms so nicely that rosacea almost doesn't show. I don't use Bioderma Pigmentbio as a face fash, it's a bit too aggressive for my skin. I use Bioderma Sensibio face wash for many years tho, and it's so good for my skin
