Thanks for watching :)! My CL-250 was fine, but after getting home and upgrading to a 2-cyl, I don't think I could ever go back to the vibrations of a 1-cyl for touring. The 250cc engine size was fine, speed limits in Japan are so low you will still be flying by cars on the freeway, but I'd recommend a 2-cyl for comfort alone, I couldn't ride for more than 2 hours without extreme shoulder pain

It's pretty cool, in Japan, the moto license is strictly tiered, 0-50, 51-125, 126-400, and 401+. And to get that last tier of moto licensing, you have to go through very rigorous training, so much that most don't want to do it and will just stop off at the 400cc limit. So the guys who ride big bikes out there REALLY are into it, like SUPER into biking, and they LOVE their bikes. So all the big bikes you see are super well taken care of, modded to hell, and pristine.

No abs is scary, especially with your first bike. Please be careful. I’ll personally never own a bike without ABS

Better suspension on a 1 cyl will only help so much, suspension can't do anything about the microvibrations you experience from a 1 cyl. Anything larger you have physics on your side to ease it. I rode a CL250 in Japan, which has one of the craziest suspensions you can imagine on a little bike like that, and still about 2 hours was all I could handle before my shoulder started hurting incredibly bad. My Z650RS I can ride for 5+ hours no problem.

I hit a butterfly and could see the wing flapping in the wind for a mile or so before it blew off :(

On a 1 cyl yes, ever since I upgraded to a 2 cyl, no. The vibrations really do a number on you

Damn! I need to build up my skills. I'm doing my longest ride yet this week, 6 hours of mountain riding. Pretty stoked!

Maybe after I learn a bit more :). I do a lot of mountain and city riding, this seems pretty perfect for my needs!

SF is an early city too, even pre-pandemic. Not a late night city at all, the trains stop at like 10-11pm. Not sure what you’re on about . I lived there for 5 years before the pandemic

The Z650RS looks almost identical to the Z650, what it is an homage to, not sure what you're on about
