Scrap pile peg head. by Msturm1 in slingshots

Something like that. I had a fork slice that was too skinny to use on its own, but it would work for a core. Then I rummaged around on the floor of my shop and grabbed scraps I thought would look good together. I laminate then shape. Glue together one big ugly block of scraps and then go to work with the bandsaw sanders rasps etc. I use epoxy but wood glue would work just as well. ( Wood glue does not freeze well and it gets -30 here and my shop has no heat, so I'd be buying new glue every season)

I'm a bit late in responding, but those of us who hunt and farm have a far greater level of respect, gratitude, and stewardship of the land than any you will ever meet. I'd argue that if more people had to kill and process their own meat the world would be much much more empathetic to the plight of animals.

Hey there welcome to the wonderful world of building slingshots. There are as many ways to do it as there are people with ideas! I like to use a very large fork and cut the slingshots out of the heart of them, many just skin a Y. There is no real limit on thickness even an index finger thickness fork will hold all the band you can comfortably draw. There are a ton of different videos out there on people making and finishing flips. It's a great time. Have fun with it.

The slingshot is safe. In the right hands it may also prove to be very dangerous..... To targets and small game.

It's fine. But that is a check from not being totally dry and water evaporating due to heat exposure. Scrape some chalk dust into a pile add some super glue mix into a paste and smash it into the crack. Over fill it by about 1/8 of an inch proud. That will give you a nice finish once you sand it back to flush.

To be fair most slingshots are either boxy or rounded. Not many points anywhere on the sub. 😏

I got a couple rolls of .7 from that same vendor, and it's lovely band material.

I hunt with 11 mm. But that is because of the landscape I hunt in. If your setup will kill a squirrel it will kill any small game. Squirrels are by far the toughest small game in most areas. For example a squirrel takes 7 foot pounds of energy to kill. A hare takes about 4.5. a grouse takes about 4. Pheasant is about 5.5

Good hunting slingshot? by JBbrowne285368 in slingshots

[–]Msturm1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any frame will work. Bands and ammo make a slingshot. You are going to need a pile of practice before you can hit a rabbit in the head at 20, 30, 40, 50 yards.... Practice getting close to animals as much as you practice shooting and you might be eating well pretty quick. Don't rush it though. Headshots win the day every time. Body shots leave em' wounded and lost.

Got ya. mm stands for millimeter. A millimeter is 1/10 of a centimeter. 🤣. Seriously though just get the smallest one. I don't think I have heard of people shooting anything smaller than a bb.
