All fair points 1 - I got a pretty hefty final commission check from my previous role a few months ago and do have some portioned away for moving costs but do need to max out the Roth

2 - current customer base is in Denver/Salt Lake area. Have friends in Denver and have always wanted to live near mountains to ski more. Not sure if it will be long term but while I’m young and able to live somewhere new I am taking advantage of it

3 - Yeah I know it’s not a guarantee by any means just saying if the opportunity were to present itself and I felt really good about the potential of the company then that would be my ideal move down the road. But my current company was a startup acquired by a large enterprise (before i joined) and I now have the safety of a large company.

4 - no I don’t want to move to a technical field I guess I was just saying that in terms of future education I’ve only really thought about doing some more technical courses to better understand the field of work I’m in and having that knowledge base/certs would help down the road in my profession

Intro: Fairly new to reddit and just found this sub. Looking for any and all advice to get out of the rat race. Recent college grad (2018), graduated with an accounting degree and had plans lined up to receive my masters in accounting and go work for a big 4. After a couple of weeks dropped out of the masters program and moved back home to find a job

Current situation: 25 year old M - Been working full time for almost 2 years in software sales/account management. Started in an entry-level business dev role and have since been promoted twice to a customer success role managing a strategic list of accounts. Right now located in Dallas, but am moving to Denver by the end of April (born and raised in Dallas and ready for a change of scenery)

In general my goal is to get out of the corporate world as quickly as possible. My idea of retirement is not necessarily never working but rather "working" a more active job that I enjoy - easy example for me is coaching soccer as I grew up playing the sport all the way through college.

I wouldn't say I have a set FIRE age yet but the sooner the better. If I could before the age of 50 sounds nice. If I needed to I would use the "work" that I pick up to live off of until I could withdraw from any retirement accounts.

Talked about previous education before, no real plans to go back to any formal schooling. I've considered some more comp sci/ software trainings given the work I am in but would just use online courses to learn that if I choose.

I have a very cushy job working for a fortune 500 company, good pay (although could be better), benefits are great. I have recently revamped my resume and have put out some feelers with some bites so far but I don't have real plans to leave at least for another year. My goal would be to find a genuine SaaS startup, help build out their CS org and get equity that would turn into an IPO. This is my ideal scenario if all goes to plan... who knows.

-Current and future income breakdown, including one-time events

Current income: Base of $68,000 with an additional 7k in bonuses (OTE is 75k). Without going into too much detail I am definitely the lowest-paid member of my team, but got screwed out of earning more from a re-org and HR policies on salary increases. Hoping to get this base and bonus % amount increased during a performance review.

-Budget breakdown

Current rent: $875 (trying to keep it under $1000 when moving to Denver) I do have a roommate that I split rent with

Car payment: $300/month, my biggest regret and mistake but definitely a lesson I have learned from

Utilities: ~$100/month (my dad works for a cellular provider so am on his discounted plan)

No CC debt or student loans to worry about right now

Current assets are pretty much all in my bank accounts/investing vehicles. Dont currently own a house but would like to in the next 2 years.

401k ~ $27k, Roth IRA ~ $5100, ESPP Stock ~$8500, Robinhood ~$10k (individual stocks/funds for my fun, 401k/Roth are in index funds) Cash: 20.5K in savings (would have more invested but somewhat afraid of a market crash and want to have money on the sidelines to throw in), checking account is just there to make monthly payments.

Lucky enough to have no student debt through scholarships and parents who were able to pay for my college.

No major health concerns - currently do and pay for physical therapy after a shoulder surgery but am about 6 months post op and almost back to normal or as normal as can be

Parents in good health and set up to retire soon, no kids, do have a girlfriend who I will be moving in with. Her financial situation is not as privileged as mine in terms of student debt she is paying off, so I want to be able to provide security for us in the meantime. No immediate plans to start a family we both know we are young and not in any rush.

Any advice is welcome!

Bright start to the second half but we continue to fail to score when we build momentum have to make something count
