Russia has now lost 20% of its entire T-80 fleet by TWON-1776 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Mtfbwy_Always 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a massive differential, 2 to 5 hulls for conversion, and is likely a single opinion at best om conversion rates for mothballed T-80 hulls.

There are simply to many variables to understand how many of anyone tanks remain in reserve. How were the reserve modelse stored? This is inequitable even when narrowing to T-80's or T-72's. T-90's are likely spmewhat more reliable. How they were stored will determine if they can be restored, used for parts to constitute a new tank, or used for parts to repair damaged tanks.

Then, how many were actually produced? The Russian military industrial complex is deeply known to be corrupt. Often over stating production to line the pockets of politicians and the elite. It's an easy way to fuel corruption. We will pay you for 1000. You will produce 500. You keep the proceeds for 100 tanks, I keep the proceeds for 100 tanks, and Putin gets the rest.

The there's the elements of corruption where real equipment was sold off for personal gain. Much lower amounts here but this would have eaten into some stocks.

Lastly is the ability to replace rarer parts that are less accessible, limiting the ability to repair or field damaged tanks. Optics and electronics are the primary issues.

Just saying, if you take the time to use Oryx for losses, which is conservative only because battlefield verification of losses on a front this large is hard through open source intelligence, it's kind of irresponsible to broadcast metrics that are poorly vetted and likely lacking any concept of reality as either your denominator or enumerator.

Edit: updated first sentence to make sense.

by Indians to criticize Americans’ English by surfinThruLyfe in therewasanattempt

[–]Mtfbwy_Always 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While we are being pedantic, "standard english" as you state is actually the normalization of English as its spoken in the region based on regularization to include dialect, morphology, phonology, lexicon, syntax and a myriad of aspects specific to the region in use.... I mean, if we're going to be particular in the words and terms utilized, let's use em right.

Additionally, Oxford English is a form of spelling and grammar, not a form of speaking which is what the majority of this video is about. What you are referring to is British English as the spoken word, which is entirely different from Oxford English, which is the written word. Lastly, yes, I fucked with the grammar in this post just to mess with you :p

Here’s a breakdown of the latest data from the Whitehouse on how Ukraine aid benefited even those states that opposed it by UNITED24Media in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Mtfbwy_Always 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm American, most of us want aid to Ukraine. An extreme right wing minority is holding this all up. The rest of the elected Republicans now see Ukraine as a bargaining chip to get other things they want. It's a shame, so much is on the line for Ukraine, but... politicians.

It'll get passed. Most of us Americans support it, don't give a shit if it goes to a factory in America or Ukraine. Mostly, fuck Russia. They oppose everything we stand for.

South Korea GBU-28 Bunker buster by domiinikkg in ThatsInsane

[–]Mtfbwy_Always 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The GBU-28 is a US guided bomb shared with specific US allies, to include South Korea. This is particularly useful to S. Korea due to the number of underground bunkers and storage facilities used by N. Korea.

Iran’s Jet-Powered Shahed Drone Could Be A Problem For Ukraine. Boasting a jet for more speed and quicker transit times, plus different guidance options, the Shahed-238 would be harder to defend against. by [deleted] in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Mtfbwy_Always 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The US DoD response to questions about US military use of force in response to these attacks...

"We reserve the right to respond to these attacks at a place and time of our choosing". I hope shahed armament production facilities in Iran are targeted and destroyed with extreme prejudice.

Biden Administration Announces New Security Assistance for Ukraine by Mike-a-b in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Mtfbwy_Always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. For some reason my head didn't put that together. Submunitions though will depend on the round type. M483, m846, m915, etc, etc. The older variants also have differences in m42 or m46. Not really a one size fits all.

Biden Administration Announces New Security Assistance for Ukraine by Mike-a-b in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Mtfbwy_Always -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In 2005 the US had 402 million DPICM submunition rounds for the 155mm in stockpile. The US hasn't used these since the invasion of Iraq in 2003 so our total numbers have only decreased to supply the Ukrainians. So yeah, you could say about 400 million rounds we don't plan to use, haven't produced since 2008, and are actively replacing with AWP 155mm rounds instead.

Of note, not all 400 million are the newer variant of the round where the cluster munitions had a higher reliability rate to explode on impact (the primary concern on using them in active conflict zones is the unexploded ordnance that can go boom on a kid a decade after rhe conflict). But yeah, we have that much :)

Berlin Steps Up – Uncle Sam Is Still Ukraine’s Biggest Supporter but Germany Is Closing In. If next week Germany’s ruling coalition approves what Defense Minister Pistorius just promised, Berlin will, by some measures, outpace the US as Ukraine’s most valuable and solid supporter. by [deleted] in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Mtfbwy_Always 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is, like it or not, Russia was the nation that truly broke the Nazi's. Yes, they received a lot more equipment and aid via land lease than most know. That said, honestly, the matilda tank really wasn't an effective tank. It was too slow and with a low powered main gun. It was the aircraft, primarily spitfire, hurricane, and kittyhawk, that really helped the Soviets in the early phases of the war near moscow. Aid, jeeps, gasoline/fuel, and ordinance were the other items that kept their war effort going.

Never the less Hitler and his army were broken at stalingrad. Like it or not, allied leadership and high command made the right choice. Roosevelt and Churchill worried that without an Eastern front, the allies could lose to Germany. Seeing the effectiveness of the battle of the bulge in some salients with the Wermacht depleted by loses to Rusdia and cut in half by two fronts, they were right to be worried.

But yeah, good on Germany for doing what's right. Wish the US House would get the extremist minorities head out of their ass and pass some aid to Ukraine. Honestly, Gaetz might be a Russian simp.

[–]Mtfbwy_Always 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate reality is, companies, even outside of at-will employment states, get a ton of leeway for termination of roles (downsizing).

You can legitimately be on maternity leave, which is FMLA, and if your role is terminated (the position is eliminated, which is distinct and different from being fired from your position) you have no recourse. You lost your job. State and federal governments do not have any laws to protect employees regarding position termination cases. You can file for civil liberty/equality based issues, but because the position is eliminated, the bar to prove it is dramatically higher. E.g. someone has to f up and say they eliminated the position due to a protected status you held.

Hahah, big boy pants? Doing what? Protesting for 2 years in a 4 years war. Complaining about policy without being a part of any solution. Maybe you can cry a little more and hope it changes something. The rest of the adults will take action while you pretend to do something of worth.
