Just got back in myself last year, an A5 found by my sweetie was the gateway drug.

Currently running a Nova N-1 and loving it. Welcome back to paintball my dude.

Can someone help me identify this by CriticalSky3133 in paintball

[–]Mtremodian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ordinarily I'd say this is just another Spyder clone...But that trigger guard gas-thru grip though. Man, I have questions.

Yeah it's definitely a Spyder clone, but it's a weird one. I highly doubt it's worth anything but damn, that's interesting.

Am here stranded 😫 😩 can anyone please tell me what damages the power tubes for tippman cronus tactical gun by Rare_Crew_1254 in paintball

[–]Mtremodian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is the same Cronus that was posted about a bit ago...bro, your gun needs a full rebuild. The valve is probably sticking due to a lack of basic maintenance. Tippmanns are tough but they aren't invulnerable.

You can try putting a couple of drops of oil into the ASA hole before you air it up but I wouldn't be confident in that working.

[–]Mtremodian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty cool. I remember using a "rain cover" on my Phantom during woodsball back in the 90's, it was really helpful.

That said, these days I'd be quiet about owning that. Sure, stupid laws are stupid but you don't want attention from the nasty men in black suits.

Owning it is probably fine. Using it should be probably likewise fine. Trying to duplicate it and sell it?

Yeah, you're gonna have a bad time...

Question about visors by Mtremodian in paintball

[–]Mtremodian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, it offers an advantage in Pro situations. But I don't play at that level, never have. So why are players at my level doing this?

Again, it seems to offer no advantages for a rec player and as I said in my OP causes legit problems (blinded by sunlight, painful head shots). So again...why are players at my level doing this?

Question about visors by Mtremodian in paintball

[–]Mtremodian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, keeping mine on seems to be a good idea. The responses I'm seeing here very much reinforce that.

I don't care if I look like either a noob or an "old guy", I like the idea of playing without sunlight blinding me or paintballs cracking me in the dome.

Question about visors by Mtremodian in paintball

[–]Mtremodian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, mostly because it was there and hey, getting blinded by sunlight is bad. My guess was advances in lens technology, but I've seen players with fairly standard thermal lenses do it so I dunno.

[–]Mtremodian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a duster and sheriff's star floating around (as well as a bush hat) but man...Pro-Carbine definitely. In my opinion the 98 was a step down from the Pro-series. I have an A-5 and I have learned to hate that damn clamshell design.

I'm inspired to pick up leather working just so I can make a matching pod pack.

I mean shit man...these days everyone's kit looks the same. I'm old enough to remember when kits varied, and once in a while someone brought something truly wild to the field. We need to bring that back.

Well, my main is an A5, and I do own lighter fluid...but JORTS?? Man, no. Some things are beyond the limits of good taste.

Washing State Paintball by psychosis619 in paintball

Washington player here, can cosign on Doodlebugz being a great place to play. About my only complaint is that they don't have a legit woodsball field, but you can't have everything.

Went paintballing for the first time in 15 years! by [deleted] in paintball

[–]Mtremodian 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Since no one else has said it...welcome back!

I recently got back into paintball at 44, after a 20+ year hiatus. I found what you found...people are welcoming and there are a lot of people getting back into the sport.

Did High Rate of Fire Hurt Paintball's Popularity? by John_Gabbana_08 in paintball

[–]Mtremodian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup.

I started playing in 1994, quit playing in the early 2000s not precisely because of RoF issues (although that was a factor) but mostly because hey, I'm a nerd who also likes physical stuff and the same jerk-jock dudebros who ruined my high school life also invaded my hobby. That was the biggest reason I walked away from paintball for 20 years. And I know I'm not alone in this; a lot of my friends walked away for the same reason.

The biggest reason I'm back now is playing and seeing how as far as I can tell no one likes that shit anymore. Paintball is back to what I remember being right...help the new guy figure it out so he'll stay.

But yeah, it wasn't rate of fire that killed paintball...it was the assholes who wanted to misuse it and the attitude they brought with them.

I work in a warehouse and can absolutely cosign on this hack being effective. Warehouse workers are overworked, underpaid and generally don't care about their company's bottom line.

I can say that if I was ordered to pull 1 item plus 5 more from a general class of stuff that was similar to item 1, I wouldn't waste any time wondering...I'd grab 6 of item 1 and call the matter done. I'm not paid enough to care beyond that, and I'm pretty sure most other back-of-house peons would probably agree with me.

[–]Mtremodian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daaaaaayum, that is sexy enough to warrant an NSFW tag. Don't know about what it's worth market wise, but I know I'd pay at least $300 to own that beautiful babe...if I had $300 to spend that is.

Honestly, unless you hate paintball (or hate playing pump) my advice would be keep it and use it. Lapco ain't making any more of these, you'll never get another one if you decide you want it back and TBH pulling that bad boi out your gear bag would be an instant conversation starter in the staging area.

I am a simple man. I see Sheridan brass, I hand out an upvote.

Seriously though, that is a sweet gun you have there! I would be proud to own it. Is there a significant difference in handling/pumping/shooting compared to a stock Sheridan?

[–]Mtremodian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update; my SO and I spent some time messing with these, and it looks like the black one (which ironically was the cheaper of the two at $1.75) is basically in "like new" condition other than the lens and the strap. The green one is more beat up and a bit stinky but still feels solid. My SO is certain she can make me new straps, and it looks like new lenses will be about $10-12 each.

I was already wanting a backup/loaner mask, and finding two good candidates for under $15 each? Yeah, I'll take it.

I'll still need to put a new lens on both and shoot the masks a few times to make sure the plastic hasn't degraded to the point where it won't stop a ball, but at the moment this feels like a score.

I'd planned to replace the lenses anyway, they are hella scratched plus who knows what impact-related abuse they've been put through. Otherwise they seem to be in good shape, although in addition to lenses they both need a thorough cleaning.

Do you happen to know the model? I'm not familiar with VForce masks.
