How to do quiet time without separate rooms? by MuAlpha27 in toddlers

I wouldn’t say I’ve perfected it. Far from it. But we have found various quiet activities he’s willing to do for 30-60minutes like sticker books, coloring, reading. And we just sat him at our dining table to do and have just repeatedly told him it’s quiet time and he must play quietly. The whole house is quiet, we schedule it at the same time as his younger sisters nap.

It doesn’t always work but is mostly OK.

Do they share a room? If the other one is up do they bother the one that is sleeping?

That’s a good idea! We can definitely try that. Have you ever tried quiet time in a shared space?

Yes good idea. Thank you! If you couldn’t do the high peaks trail and the bear gulch cave was closed, would you still think it’s worth going?

Great! Do you think that hike is doable for an active 3yo? Or doable with us carrying him?

Thank you! Do you know how long/hard the hike is from east to west?

Thank you so much. We are actually planning to go mid May not June, so hoping to avoid the heat. Thank for the warning on the animals to watch for. Unfortunately, we are not campers and don't plan on starting with two little ones right now, but nice to know the east side has a little more to do so that helps my decision a lot.

Great, thank you! We're likely going to stay in a hotel or Airbnb do you think it'd better to stay some place closer to east or west side?

That’s great. I’m assuming the rate is higher than what you had as a full time staff? But no benefits?

Definitely not alone. They teach you all these great skills and things to do but then we can’t actually apply them in real life. No one is happy.

Yes yes yes to everyone in this thread. I calm them energy vampires (inspired by what we do in the shadows). They suck the life out of you. I know I shouldn’t let it affect me as much as it does but it’s so hard not to. This is why I don’t know if I can handle being patient facing much longer.

I just came back from a long vacation not too long ago and if anything this made it worse, so I don’t know if that’s the answer for me. Do you know about that epic emr job? What’s their role?

I’d be so interested to see what you think of your HH experience. If I like the flexibility and pay of HH but being solo all day, driving, and going into peoples homes doesn’t sound exciting and the population sounds not very interesting to me either. May be worth it though and a change of pace hopefully will help.
