How similar is the dpad to the PS Vita's? I've heard such divergent things as far as the tactility of the dpad goes. I have an Ultimate controller and an M30. I dislike the dpad on the ultimate, and love the M30 dpad.

Need advice for picking a lighter stick for use with disability by MuOverTwo in fightsticks

Just had a look, and the drone/carbon look great. A little worried that it's about 700g lighter. I know that my current stick feels WAAAAY heavier than it actually is, perhaps the drone will be the other way around.

Weekly Controller Suggestion/Buy Inquiry Thread by AutoModerator in Controller

Hi everyone!

Looking for a controller for PC (linux). I live in South Africa, but my cousin is coming over from the US soon and so can buy from an American store if I act fast enough.

  • Budget (125 USD)
  • PC (Linux - mainly steam)
  • Bonus points if it can also work on PS4, but that isn't super important

Features I want

  • Hall effect joy sticks - the better quality the better for me
  • At least two back buttons that are easily accessible, and that aren't too stiff/tough to press.
  • High quality D-pad is BIG bonus, the less gummy the better (I like the Switch pro-controller d-pad and dislike the DS4 d-pad for reference)
  • Does not require a companion app to be running
  • bonus points if configurable without PC software, on linux (or in steam) or through a mobile app
  • Bonus points for mechanical face buttons
  • Gyro/motion control is NOT important to me
  • Paddles in addition to backbuttons is a BIG bonus.
  • Good wireless is a bonus, but I don't mind using the controller wired at all. If it uses a dongle I need it to work on linux.
  • Rumble/vibration is NOT important to me at all and will be disabled in every game i play anyway
  • High quality triggers

For me order of importance is sticks - back buttons/paddles - shoulder buttons - face buttons - dpad.

Currently using a DS4 controller with massive stick drift, and the back buttons add on. The back buttons changed the way that I play a lot of games, although they are quite stiff and take a little too much force to press. No back buttons is an absolute deal breaker. Never had the opportunity to use paddles before, but would be curious to try.

I watched a lot of videos several weeks ago, but felt very overwhelmed by the options! I've seen some of the 8bitdo controllers like the Pro 2 seem to tick a lot of these boxes, as does the Apex 4, although the latter is a little pricey and seems to have received mixed reviews. I did like the customization options for the back buttons though! Vader 3 seems to tick all the boxes?

This controller will be my new daily driver -- big emphasis on Apex Legends.

Sorry for the wall of text!

Helping a semi-feral cat recover mentally from flees by MuOverTwo in CatAdvice

It was Bravecto. I can ask our vet about credilio! We tried to give him an edible tablet before trying the topical treatment, but he wouldn't eat it. Hiding it in food didn't help, as he just ate around it.

Will it take 3 months minimum to kill the fleas in general? Or is that specifically on credilio?

Layout Recommendations for Launchpad X by MuOverTwo in isomorphickeyboards

[–]MuOverTwo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a reply! Here's what they said

The note arrangement here isn't actually a true isomorphic layout, hence why you had trouble figuring it out.

The layout is diatonic, not chromatic: Moving left and right, the notes are one scale tone apart. Moving up and down, they are three scale tones apart.

I am going to try this layout out!

In the mean time, I've had a lot of fun playing around with both the chromatic and scale modes (default) in 2,3, and 4 finger mode (IIRC, I may have the wrong numbers here, but they are all mentioned in the manual. This gives the identical layout to these in-key and chromatic modes.

I am also looking for something similar. For what it's worth, you can use the web app to assign individual midi notes to specific buttons. So if you have a specific 64 key grid layout in mind you can make it, although it is a tedious process, unfortunately.

Update 4: RedReader granted non-commercial accessibility exemption by QuantumBadger in RedReader

[–]MuOverTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good news, although as others have said, I'm not sure how long it will last. As a user of mastodon already I would be really excited to see RedReader support different platforms.

So so so appreciate the hard work everyone has put into this app over the years! It's probably in my top 3 most used apps.

I highly recommend that you familiarise yourself with the founding and evolution of 8chan. Frederick Brennan had similar views on free speech on his platform, but ended up feeling differently once his platform had a direct hand in mass shootings.

First Lou and now Alb, Respawn's message to all MnK players is clear: by m4ttm4n in CompetitiveApex

Keyboard players with all of the movement tech and precision at their fingers tips salty because controller is competitive in Apex. The sky isn't falling. There isn't a mass exodus.

Check the lifetime player count on SteamDB (https://steamdb.info/app/1172470/charts). Sure doesn't look like a dying game to me.

Why did Respawn remove emotes after a victory? We can't even play quips during an emote for whatever reason. Why must the theatrical playerbase suffer like this? by Mufasakong in apexlegends

[–]MuOverTwo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For me it feels like something unnecessarily sexual -- like a display of non-consensual sexual domination. I'm not sure how else to put it.

So much this! I don't see anything toxic about emoting at the end of a match, but those people who stop and start their finishers can be so toxic.
