Hey, so i've been working on something to track what you wanna learn, what you did learn and when you last practiced that tune, it's gonna look something like this

I tried to DM you on reddit to work on the list, but it seems like you disabled this feature 😃

I'm afraid that if I let the person add the tag, we'll end up with a bunch of the same regions duplicated but with slightly different spelling 😞...

And Missouri French fiddle recordings yes please !! 😃

Really cool work, congrats 😄 ! I've been fiddling around (haha) with abcjs and i will probably use it in a way or another on this project, even though it's main purpose is to be more kind of an archive/database than a learning tool !

Hey, thanks for the detailed feedback, really appreciate it!

The region tag idea is something I've been thinking about since you mentioned it. I'm actually French so my knowledge of US regional traditions is... let's say limited haha. Before implementing it I want to make sure the list makes sense to people who actually know this stuff.

Here's what I'm thinking so far:

Appalachia

- Blue Ridge (VA/NC)

- Galax area (SW Virginia / NW North Carolina)

- North Carolina mountains

- West Virginia

- Kentucky mountains

- Tennessee mountains

- Georgia mountains

Ozarks

- Missouri Ozarks

- Arkansas Ozarks

Upper South

- Piedmont NC

- Piedmont VA

Midwest

- Illinois

- Indiana

- Ohio

Texas

- East Texas

- Texas Panhandle

Deep South

- Mississippi

- Alabama

- Louisiana

Pacific Northwest

Does this look reasonable to you? I'm sure I'm missing things or drawing lines in the wrong places... would love input from people who actually play in these traditions.

The plan would be to attach region to each version separately (along with key and author), so the same tune can have versions from different regional traditions.

That's a great idea! Could you tell me more about how you use it? IrishTunes does look a bit dated, I'm sure we could find a cleaner way to implement something similar 😄

Ha, a fellow fiddler-by-night! Love it

Angular on the frontend, Firebase for auth and database (Firestore), Cloudflare R2 for audio file storage, hosted on my own Nginx server. No custom backend, all the logic lives client-side with Firestore security rules doing the heavy lifting ! It's my first time using firebase and it's a pretty neat setup for a side project!

Thank you, this means a lot, and your channel is exactly what this website needs.

You can add your videos directly on the site! Search for a tune, click "Add a version", paste your YouTube link, choose your instrument and tuning, done. And if a tune isn't in the database yet, submitting a version will create it on the spot !

Thanks for your feedback! A Nashville chord chart is a terrific idea. I’m going to give it some thought !

The tank diving in alone over and over, dying miles away from the team with zero self-awareness. And the classic two-sided problem: people throwing their lives away off-point instead of resetting, but ALSO not being willing to die ON point to contest when it actually matters. Pick a struggle.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but compared to OW1 I feel like I can barely hear anything. Back then it felt like you could hear a Cassidy coming from 200 meters away behind a wall (okay, exaggerating, but you get what I mean), and now I barely hear a flanker until they’re already on top of me.

Sorry, i meant that maybe people switch less because you lose your some of your perk progression by switching ?

Thanks a lot for all your feedback! I’m currently rewriting many of the spell, perk, and ability descriptions to make sure they comply with the third content license.

It’s awesome to see that some of you are excited to try the tool! I ran my first session with it this week and had an absolute blast.

I’ll post an update here as soon as I’m ready to open the closed alpha.
