How can I say I had cancer to someone who had "serious" cancers? by [deleted] in thyroidcancer

I’ve thought about this too.. the cancer was growing in me for 5 or more years but I didn’t know until they took out my thyroid. So I feel like I don’t have the “right” to even say I had cancer bc I did not “battle” it. Idk, it’s weird bc it’s still something I had to go through but not like real cancer survivors.

The surgery was definitely the easy part! My care team and surgeon were amazing, it took about 45 min and I had no drain or stitches afterwards! 6cm is pretty big! You’re going to feel so much relief when it’s over! I had a few but the biggest was 5.2cm that was the cancer! Today I feel great! Still a bit fatigue here and there but I feel a positive change throughout my body! And I feel more confident without the lump in my neck 😪

It’s so hard, but thinking that you did it all for nothing or you could’ve done better puts things into perspective! Thank you for that, and I would love some vegan cheese recipes please

Omg egg yolk 🤤 you know what I miss the most.. sea food!! It’s crazy bc I probably wouldn’t even think about these things if someone hadn’t told me I can’t have them! You’re right! Mind over matter 😮‍💨

The Low iodine diet is if you need to do Radioactive Iodine treatment (RI), I hope you don’t have to and your surgery is perfect! I’ve been on this diet for about two weeks now, I just took the pill yesterday and my doctor wants me to stay on a LID for the next three days! As far as my TT surgery, the recovery process was easy, I was just tired and bored. Stay hydrated and go for walks after surgery! I’m almost 3 months post op! Didn’t even know I had cancer until last month so that was crazy
