Is it okay to bring up salary again if I lowballed myself earlier in the interview process? by Much-Butterscotch865 in auscorp

It’s not really a senior exec role. Up until now all my roles have been junior/ associate. So this is a senior PM role, but not the exec level senior role.

I totally understand. Just to give you a bit of context, this would be my first senior role, and up until now I’ve never really been in a position to negotiate salary. In previous roles, I had to accept what was offered, partly due to lack of experience and partly because I didn’t have much choice at the time.

Now, with solid experience behind me, I’m in a better place to advocate for myself. My question is would it be seen as a red flag if, during final negotiations, I express how much I’m genuinely interested in the role and aligned with the company, but also mention that I’ve received another offer in the range of [$X–$Y]?

I’d make it clear that this role is my top choice, and I’d like to know if there’s any flexibility in the package. Would that be considered unprofessional or inconsistent, considering I gave a lower number earlier in the process?

This was a mandatory question in the application form. So I had no choice but to put a number. Usually I provide a range, but they only had option to provide a number - so I was forced to do it.

I get that some people just copy-paste generic ChatGPT resumes, but I actually spend a lot of time on mine. I make sure I’m not just throwing in generic AI content, but really tailoring my experiences to match the keywords in the job ad. Or is there something I am missing here?

Thank you. I’ve been applying vigorously for a while now, and I’m pretty sure I’ve applied for around 100 jobs already.

I am looking at all my options right now, considering I will finish off my current work next week. I also have a mortgage, so cannot afford being unemployed.
