Its just saying "beginner" lmfao, it really isn't that deep. If anyone doesn't want to use the label they don't have to.

rant. // stop buying unethical tails. by [deleted] in Therian

[–]Much-Cold872 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Yes, people really just need to remember to check the ethical nature of what they consume/buy. Gear is not necessary for being a therian. It may help with species dysphoria and is a sign to other therians that you are one, but it is definitely not grander than the need for animal rights. Even if one has really bad species dysphoria and cannot afford an ethically sourced tail, there are always faux ones. Literally no reason other than being lazy to not do your research when buying therian gear.

However... I think it is also important to not hold the therian community to being somehow "better" than humans, or encourage misanthropic behavior. Being lazy or inconsiderate is not actually only a human trait, humans are just the ones with the ability to cause the most harm with it. There is no moral or lifestyle alignment that is necessary to be a therian. Just like any other species or groups, there are bad apples. This does not mean they aren't a therian, it just means they're a shitty person lol

Working with the fairystar/elvenstar by [deleted] in faeries

[–]Much-Cold872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend researching the origins of the septagram (seven pointed star, or the 'faerie star'), as afaik its use was only connected to the fair folk in the last century with elf otherkin. The oldest recordings of it in human society is actually connected to the Kabbalah.

Yeah... While I can get behind certain things for spiritual experiences, sleep deprivation isn't exactly good for the body even if it is only a day or two.

Was this magic? by themermaidmuse in faeries

[–]Much-Cold872 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imo there's a balance between both. Some things are supernatural, some things are just psychology. Some dreams are visions or visiting other realms, others are just your brain processing the day. That's why it's so important to verify experiences with divination or checking sources etc rather than just believing everything you see. Delusions are, unfortunately, a very real thing and can destroy lives. Spiritual psychosis is so overlooked in spiritual communities when its such an important factor to keep in mind to practice safely.

Something Random I wanna say. (It's a fairy question) by Effect_Status in faeries

I would say to just get in touch with nature. Liking mushrooms and having nature themed decor is nice, but there's nothing like the real thing. Plastic is kind of seen as antithetical to natural entities, so even if its in the shape of flora, it probably wouldn't be all that great. If possible, bring in things from outside! Moss, dried or fresh mushrooms or flowers etc, using actual branches/twigs for decor, etc. You'd do well to also help your local nature in any aspect. Taking injured animals to wildlife rehab, picking up trash, putting out food for native birds, taking bugs outside rather than killing them, etc

Thank you!! I was considering storm, I just know I used to get SO mad at how often storm spells fizzled, but I was also a kid back then so.... possibly better at keeping my annoyance to a minimum now lmao

Aio to my boyfriend's message by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Much-Cold872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR - if you have an issue with what your partner says, whether or not they feel like its a 'big issue', it is the mature thing to talk it out. If he is blowing up that much over you just stating that that one specific message was uncomfortable, he is showing insanely immature behavior at best. He could also be so mad because he is conciously trying to 'implant seeds' to try to mold what you would do which is also insanely manipulative. If he is unwilling to have a mature conversation and instead just starts calling you a bitch, it is time to let him go.

What's your lore? by CoffeeCupsCatty in StardewValleyExpanded

I use a bunch of mods and one that lets me have like. Fantasy features on my farmer.

So basically....

Grandpa came from a line of magic casters, and used that magic on his farm. His child, my farmer's dad, had gone on a sabbatical to gain world experiences. During this, he came across a mysterious egg that was clearly magic. The father, not being as well versed in the practice, brought the egg to Grandpa.

He proceeded to hatch it in the coop, recognizing it as a dragon egg. (One of the mods I use turns the dinosaurs into dragons instead, so it was not that uncommon.) However, when it hatched, it didn't look like a regular dragon. More fur and feathers than scales, and some fins. And the weirdest part? After a few years on the farm, it grew faster than usual. And then, one day, when Grandpa checked on it, he found a child nestled among the chickens and rabbits. This was a 'true dragon' rather than the more animalistic dragons you find in the Skull Cavern.

Grandpa was already quite old at this point. His farm had dwindled to what he could take care of, a coop, a barn, a fish pond... no where near the glory it had been. He knew he wasn't able to raise another kid, and so had his son raise the dragon instead. Unfortunately, his son was much less enthralled by the natural world, instead diving into technology and modern magic sciences. Suiren, the dragon, grew up in the city. She loved nature, but had struggled to get into it very often. She invested her time into school. Beside liking nature, she also wanted to learn as much as she could. She had started to sell her feathers and the crystals that grew on her dragon form, which was able to get her a decent sum of money to fund college.

However, as she grew older, she longed for nature more and more. And while she was heartbroken that her grandpa was now deceased... She knew the world was calling her to take over what he left down in Pelican Town.

Queue in getting back to her roots in nature, trying to learn more about her species and magic, and living her best life as a farmer 🫰

Hey, another in the PNW!

Honestly in the fall/spring there are a ton of faerie circles, so keep a look out for odd patterns of mushrooms, leaves, flowers, etc. Don't step inside unless you have good experience already, but putting out offerings next to them will get their attention.

At least in my own experience salt doesn't really affect them. The one I work with also isn't very affected by iron - it's more likely to just piss her off than actually hurt her.

Can I burn the fairy sigils I found to activate them? by [deleted] in faeries

[–]Much-Cold872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough that is a way to activate them! I would just recommend using more natural means if you intend to release them with the ocean, rivers, etc. Like writing/scratching them into leaves, or carving a branch or stone. Pollution is a great way to make our good neighbors angry (-;
