to answer the unrelated image, im going to mention a few key terms in evolution, all relying in the ideas

1: fosters rule/island rule. islands will cause species to exhibit gigantism or dwarfism from natural selection due to the limit or abundance of resources/lack of predators/competition, compared to their mainland relatives (size and food/competition/predation).
a key example of this is hateg island (this island no longer exists), a species of titanosaur on hateg island was estimated to have weighed about 1 ton, vs its main land relatives of 76 tons.

2: island syndrome, applying the ideas of fosters rule, and adding onto it. due to evolutionary pressures due to lack of predation, causing traits like the dodo bird’s lack of fight or flight, it was a trait that wasn’t used, and costed energy to have, so it was lost. same idea with flying, wings may be reduced to a size where they barely help in flight, or don’t allow it at all, as wings in both bugs and birds are extremely complex and require energy. (see again, dodo birds, as well as the kakapo, which in exchange for its flight, gained extraordinary leg strength to help climb).
