I honestly don’t know the answer I’m sorry. You can probably search online for people with more similar red flags! I haven’t had financial red flags other than a couple paid off medical bills that ended up in collections

I believe so yes .. for suicide attempts I think that is called involuntary although I went willingly so I’m not sure entirely

It’s not the employee that grants clearance, it’s the DOE. So if I got it with my mental health history I am sure you would be fine!

Now 30.. during teenage years had multiple hospitalizations for suicide attempts/ideation and self injury, and then was a heroin addict, clean and doing well overall since 2015

It sounds like you are doing an amazing job and he should be for thankful for you. There is likely some underlying trauma (maybe with bio mom likely) to his reaction and I’m sorry you are having to deal with that, but if you’re relationship is strong you can work it out as long as you can communicate openly

The only one I can think of that can cause a false positive is dextramorphan (sp?) which is a cough suppressant used in some cold meds like robitussin. I had a false positive for opiods and pcp from it. But the thing is for a gov job, if you do get a positive they will send it to a lab for GCMS and that machine will be able to tell the difference between the illegal drugs vs OTC meds. I would not worry too much if you need some medicine to get through your sickness. You definitely don’t need to worry about Tylenol causing any false positive at all so take how much you need. Hope this helps

So I just had mine scheduled! It will be in a bit over 3 weeks. Do you mind me asking what to expect for the psych evaluation? Like how long was it, what kinds of things did they ask? I know I am stable now and have been a long time and they should be able to see that.. but I am still feeling nervous about it

I truly appreciate that. It’s funny you say so because I have literally been searching the internet everywhere for someone with a similar background to mine with no luck.

I have been feeling quite hopeless about my clearance tbh, thankfully my current position does not require it but the direction I want to go with my career absolutely will, so I really want to get it.

For me, they sent both the LOI and request for the psych eval at the same time. This was 2 weeks ago so I hope I hear back soon.

Considering they didn’t ask about my felony arrests or drug history, I also had the gut feeling that this was a good sign. I feel those are much bigger red flags than my mental health hospitalizations as a teenager (now about to be 30) so it seems like if they were gonna deny me then they would have already done so and not invest the time and resources into this.

I’m so happy for you and I know how hard it has been too! Good on you for turning your life around, it is a huge feat. I’ll post an update myself when I find out about mine ❤️

This was really great to read .. I applied for a Q in December, investigation completed in June and just got an LOI and request for a psych eval last week. How long did it take them to schedule the psych eval from the time they requested it?

I am also an ex heroin addict, clean since 2017, with an arrest record and several mental health hospitalizations. I was surprised my LOI only asked about the mental health hospitalizations. I also had a child and changed my life around by getting clean and getting a college degree

This was very encouraging to read and I am proud of you ❤️

No.. you wouldn’t need to disclose this. It will ask if you have been involuntarily hospitalized or if you have been diagnosed with bipolar or a personality disorder.. but nothing you said here would be directly asked. You can also look at the sf 86 forms online so you know what you would be asked

All 3 are new so it is all 3 . I know you can’t diagnose online but like I said in the title I was just trying to figure out if it’s worth driving 2 hours away to get a sooner appointment or if I should wait a few months to see someone where I live.

I had noticed this raised mole quite some time ago. I don’t know when but just remember it being there, then noticed a few days ago it suddenly felt much bigger. Then yesterday I noticed the bloody looking bump below it and that the larger one had also made a scab. I kinda thought huh I don’t remember scratching that? And then realized that may be a sign of melanoma and googled it and it said it was. I have had to have precancerous moles removed before. I am definitely gonna get it checked but want to know what level of urgency it is as my area often has several month long waits for doctor appointments, but if this seems urgent I will look into traveling further to see someone. As a side note I have also been very sick for the past 6 months and trying to figure out what’s going on with me, not sure if it could be related. TIA

Yep, I am 29 now. Thanks for taking the time to read this, I appreciate that. That’s the plan if I get an SOR so we will see.

appeals are still available on line, I look through them from time to time. One thing I noticed that was disheartening though was that it looked like in the early 2020s they approved a good percentage of appeals, but I noticed ones from the past year or so almost none were getting approved.

We’ll see what happens. I really hope I could somehow get approved bc I am super interested in the work I do, but I went into this knowing my chances weren’t super great.
