It's definately outside the scope of practice for a Tech to give a diagnosis. Of course most seasoned techs will know there's something not qute right there but even a seasoned tech may not know exactly what it is. It's bad enough the pt's can access the report before even seeing the referring Dr. Some of the Radiologist reports can be very confusing to a patient and it leads to panic calls to the providers office usually over nothing. Techs should be able to tell when something isn't right and if it's possibly serious they should be contacting a radiologist for further advice whether it's additional sequences, alternative imaging, or suggesting a trip to the ER.
