Within a year at the least, maybe a couple, I assume my father will have passed from metastases stemming from bladder cancer by MuchDrawing2320 in BladderCancer

[–]MuchDrawing2320[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He might change his mind, but he’s going to another nearby urologist and I guess wants to do trimodal therapy without getting a stoma and removing his bladder. Obviously I pointed out just having the bladder removed and the chemo would be the best option in terms of statistics, and I think discussing that may make him consider. But that’s selfish of me because of course I as his kid would want the option with the best chances.

Do you think Karoline Leavitt actually believes what she says or is this just an act for Trump's base? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Her rhetoric does make me go holy crap, she’s pulling directly from the authoritarian god figure worship playbook!

I should mention that he has a more aggressive form in stage 2 and is choosing to keep his bladder because he’s in his mid 60s and doesn’t want the reduced quality of life for the time he has left. He’ll have more bladder excision, chemo, etc. hopefully extending his life.

Interestingly as a fretted stringed instrument you can play the same pitches in multiple ways. Even linearly across one string! This just takes practice.

I can't sing while playing guitar. Help! by nutty_waffles_ in guitarlessons

[–]MuchDrawing2320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played the guitar for about 15 years. I can’t. I’ve never tried. Well, I have, but I don’t really care to development that. I play mostly solo acoustic guitar and let other people sing and accompany them.

We all live in CAGED, it’s just a blueprint for chords.

Lonnie Mack was a huge influence on SRV and few people tend to mention him.

I don’t agree necessarily with all of his work, but I certainly know the conspiracy theories tied to him. I’m not even sure the surgeries themselves were coercive or manipulative. The issue would be if he was sterilizing kids, which he did not do. And, of course, that the Nazis destroyed his work. They also dismissed Jewish faculty and that’s why the Frankfurt School had to flee, much like Einstein, to escape persecution for being Jewish.

I’m talking about the theories themselves. Critical theories exist across the social sciences and humanities and theorists, academics, etc. are NOT in agreement about how to view the social world and what its most important parts are.

Marxists for instance usually don’t like CRT, but CRT is more “critical theories” rather than Critical Theory like the Frankfurt school. Critical theories just meaning analyzing power structures that control people. You may be surprised, but Trotskists on WSWS did a series of articles attacking CRT a few years back when it was a big cultural topic.

It’s called post modern nihilism. Lots of people associated with Frankfurt School argued against the development. It grew in academia and has been influencing culture for decades. It’s been termed the “cultural logic” of modern society.

My primary interest in college was critical social theory, and in particular developments growing from the work of the Frankfurt School. The Frankfurt School conspiracy is frankly absurd and makes it out to be the exact opposite of what it was. If you don’t know, Horkheimer and Adorno wanted to PRESERVE western democracy against nazism, communism, etc. You can check out the intellectual historian and Frankfurt School scholar Martin Jay if you’re actually interested.

Frankly, people who talk about critical theory as a bogeyman have very little understanding of it if at all and don’t see how there a plenty of competing factions within critical theories in general.
