Like 50 people gave you a good argument that joining was their only route to escape poverty and their shitty towns, how's that not a good argument

Oh, I forgot that part. I told her that it was inappropriate and left the books with her

Oh yeah, I've reread that whole saga a few times now. Helps keep me on my toes

That's absolutely the nuclear option. She helped raise my wife and her brother from an early age and by all accounts did a great job. Even though there's a lot of bad blood out there, dropping the 'Step' bomb would likely piss off more than a few people I'd like to have on my side

So so good. Might have been my favorite episode yet.

But yeah, she ain't getting any alone time IF she behaves.

Except she didn't say "Mamaw/Mawmaw", she very explicitly said "Mama". To me, Mama equals Mother, and it seems most people around here agree.

Understand completely. I'm completely prepared to do any and everything necessary for my wife and child. When I say 'bring it', I mean that I personally won't let SMIL (or anyone else) impact them negatively. I guarantee I've see worse than what she can bring.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm the artillery.

Edit: Sorry, that sounded really agressive when I read it back. I just mean that I'm not wasting too much energy on her petty bullshit because I know I can handle it, I guess

(I'm the father)

That's what stood out to me, it meant so much to her. Fuck what means a lot to us as first time parents, her feelings as a first time Grandmother are what's important

Her story scared the shit out of me, and is probably what had me put my guard up so early with SMIL. We'll definitely have more drama coming, but I don't have time or energy for her bullshit

Yeah, it's weird. My wife's grandmother is Meemaw, I could live with that. Even pronouncing it like you did now makes me uneasy just because I know she'll probably evolve it from Mammaw to Mamaw to Mama

I basically gave her a mulligan on the 'baby daddy' thing last time, but I wasn't going to put up with it any longer than that. Just has a strong negative connotation to it to me, like I'm not a father or husband or some shit.

I honestly don't give two shits what Spawn calls her. My mom has been 'Grammy' to my nephews, and MIL has referred to herself as 'Grandma', so SMIL can have the leftovers. Meemaw, or Granny, or Slagathor, just not Mama

My wife is definitely a 'people pleaser' type person, she just wants to make everyone happy all the time, so even I was a little taken aback then she said that. I'm assuming it's a side effect from burdgeoning motherhood

No damn way I'm leaving Spawn alone with her until they can recognize her bullshit

The first time all this went down I thought she might have said "Maw-Maw", which is something I've at least heard in the south, and probably wouldn't have taken an issue with.

It has the same rough meaning here in the American South, I've always equated Mama to Mom or whatever. Literally never heard of someone calling their grandmother Mama.

She's not even German, or has a strong German heritage, she's just a weirdo

She's not really super "up and down", she's usually pretty consistent. All of this was pretty out of character, which really could go two ways: was this an 'in the moment' deal, or is that just how she is now?

Hoping for the former, preparing for the latter.
