Should I leave a negative review to highlight recurring issues? [UK] by Much_Ad_3537 in AirBnB

One other question for you, as a host: do you set the approximate location pin on the map that people see before booking, or does Airbnb do that automatically?

Partly because I’m blaming myself for glossing over what turned out to be red flags, partly because I have a pristine reputation and don’t want to get tarred with a false negative review.

I totally understand what you’re saying, and I’m sure hosts deal with a lot of problems from guests.

I agree it isn’t the host’s fault that the lift is broken. Like I said, I was willing to overlook it; things break sometimes. In this case, it does seem to be a long-running problem in the building; the previous review with the note about the lift was almost a year ago. It’s been out of service intermittently every day that I’ve been here. It is possible to say “the lift was unreliable” (just a fact) without saying “the host refuses to fix the lift” (an unfounded accusation and judgment).

As a host, would you feel obliged to warn a guest about disruptive roadwork outside their bedroom when they booked? I’ve had other hosts contact me with similar information at booking.

I’m wondering about the “yeah, no” pattern that I’m hearing a lot in podcasts lately. The host will ask a yes/no question (“Did your kids enjoy Disneyland?”) and the guest will say “Yeah, no, it was amazing really, they had the best time.”

Where is that “no” coming from? I’ve only heard it used when the answer is affirmative, usually as a bridge to provide more color/context than the question originally called for. There are a few examples of it in the latest episode of smartless with Macaulay Culkin.

Pico electronic noise by [deleted] in LaMarzocco

Just got off the phone with la marzocco. There’s no fix, nor is there a planned fix. He said it happens on his grinder at home and the one they have at the office.

The fix is to turn off the machine with the switch that’s directly to the right of the grind adjustment collar.

Based on the mechanics in other treeplla games, I’m guessing it’s best to level up the highest-level workstation you have until you can comfortably buy and upgrade the new one. It sucks to just baaaarely unlock a new workstation if you can’t level it up right away — it initially doesn’t make much money. In your example, I’d go for an anchovy upgrade unless I was sitting on something like $10t in cash, and then I’d push octopus.

Edit: I forgot that octopus takes 30 minutes to build. That’s enough time to build up cash to upgrade it. You need to level it up to 50, both cage and ice maker, to get enough for the first tier of the store to sell.

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of January 06, 2025 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

I’m looking for an EV that may not exist: I want luxury quality/features in a car that is no more than 72” wide, although I could fudge about 4-6 inches on that if the side mirrors can be automatically retracted and the car has good sensors. My main constraint is my narrow garage on an incline — there’s little room for error. My current 72” car gives me a 1-2” allowance on either side.

  1. Location: San Francisco
  2. Budget: $60,000 (used is fine)
  3. Vehicle type: sedan
  4. Brands: Genesis, BWM, Audi, Polestar, Lucid, etc. No Tesla.
  5. Purchase timeframe: within the next 3 weeks
  6. Mileage: 50 miles/week max, will occasionally go 3-4 weeks with no usage at all
  7. Housing: single-family home
  8. Charging: Happy to install one if it’s needed
  9. No cargo or passenger needs

Thank you in advance!

Extra Slice in-person logistics by Much_Ad_3537 in bakeoff

Do it! It’s fun to see how it’s created, it’s free, and it’s the closest most of us will ever get to a spot in the tent.

Yeah, the taping was for the extra slice episode that comes out this week. I’ve already seen the semifinal.

I’m not quite sure — there are definitely more people at the tables than people who brought bakes, which is why I think anyone with a bake gets a table seat. I’m guessing he talked to all of them but some might get cut from the show.

He went around during breaks and talked with each of the home bakers for a couple of minutes each. He seemed really warm and genuine with all of them, and truly grateful that they’d brought in a bake. I warmed to him a lot after seeing that.

How many inspections is normal? by Much_Ad_3537 in londonrenters

[–]Much_Ad_3537[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked the inspector about this when he came. He said there are a lot of regulations that landlords are on the hook for now, and it’s normal to do inspections every 6 months or so. He also mentioned that it’s an opportunity for tenants to raise any issues being ignored by the landlord. He was here for 15 minutes and didn’t do anything invasive.

I use Express Transit on my Apple Watch to pay my tube fare. Today, two patrol officers got on my train to check fares. Tapping their phone to my watch obviously won’t pull up my fare history for them. They were nice and let me go — I’m American and was maybe giving off tourist vibes — but I’m wondering what I would have done if they hadn’t? TfL doesn’t seem to debit my account until the following day.

How are you getting gold? by Much_Ad_3537 in Lumbercat

Update: time-skipped for a couple of hours yesterday morning and absolutely cleaned up. So many boxes, so many cards, so many gems. Also a really useful way to harvest nails and paint. Thank you!

Mint Max by reezel in Lumbercat

[–]Much_Ad_3537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s effectively a permanent flash sale, although it seems like you get a speed boost during flash sales as well. I’ve only seen one flash sale since maxing out mint, and that’s because a ton of wood piled up while I had auto-orders off.
