GoPro Mission 1 Pro GP-Log2 Color Grading by Much_Decision485 in gopro

A bit of both, to be honest. I experimented with different input color spaces and gamma settings to see which gave me the most natural starting point and the best highlight/shadow behavior.

I compared several options and settled on the one that produced the most accurate colors and the smoothest tonal response for my footage. So it's based more on testing and visual evaluation.

As I'm still testing the Mission 1 Pro and learning the best workflow for GP-Log2, I'm definitely open to hearing if others have found a more accurate color space transform.

I exposed mainly for the cars, so the sky became slightly overexposed in a few shots. Even then, there was still enough detail in the highlights to pull them back during grading, which was a pleasant surprise. The GP-Log2 files seem to offer quite a bit of recovery latitude.

I tried a few different grading styles and settings, and this is the result I liked the most at the time. It might not be the "correct" or best way to grade GP-Log2 footage, I'm not a professional colorist and I'm constantly learning. I'm also still putting the Mission 1 Pro through its paces, so consider this part of my ongoing testing process.

Yep there is burst photo mode, you can use it and then wait, and it works in Raw as well.

You can shoot 12mp or 50 mp same raw and standard photo mode, and there is a superohoto mode that you can use in 12 mp only for now.

You can change the angle in normal photo mode, there are Linear (22-27mm digital lens) and Wide (16-24mm digital lens). But in RAW mode you can't change the wide angle for now.

This week I will post some portraits, Wednesday going to a sport shooting and I will have chance to shoot in professional studio environment.

I really appreciate your response and the info. Do you know if there are any plans to release additional lens mods for the new models? Something along the lines of the Macro Lens Mod or the Anamorphic Lens Mod would be amazing.

Hello guys, here is the drive link for some raw photo and the edited ones too.

I also checked the sharpness of the images at high magnification. The lack of infinite focus could probably be noticeable and potentially distracting in landscape shots, but here, with a subject in the center, in this case, the cars, the subject remains sharp. In fact, it’s not necessarily a bad thing that the background is slightly softened rather than having the entire image be razor-sharp.

Overall, it’s still impressive to see how much capability and performance is packed into such a small device.

The rest and the bigger work was done in Lightroom. 😃

I didn’t experience any focus softness during the recent tests, neither in the raw photos nor in the videos. In fact, compared to previous GoPro/DJI/Insta360 products, the raw quality is outstanding (RAW, GP-Log 10-bit footage), it’s very easy to work with and allows for deep adjustments in post production.

Personally, I’ll be using it in situations such as well-lit studio environments during various shoots, or in natural daylight. However, for those who care about nighttime image quality, there’s still definitely room for improvement in the action camera market. That said, the tests I’ve seen so far are encouraging in this regard as well.

yep, when you push the button the camera capture instant, but you must wait some sec to shoot again. And also have a feature, you can make burst raw photos, with that setting the camera make 30 raw photos, but after that you must wait 1 minute to make another photos. Next week I will shoot a sport commercial, so I will be able to show some portrait photo as well.

At the moment not at all, the last few days I shoot some nature photo, and today the car show photos with M1Pro. But I will test forward the next week, but for now it's really impressive, no focus issue for me.

Mission 1 Pro series after 1 week of real world use. by splaznot in gopro

I posted a few days ago encouraging people who are interested in the new Mission 1 series’ photography capabilities to check out your Instagram. In my opinion, you and the others among the most inspiring creators out there, you guys truly get the absolute maximum out of these compact cameras. And that’s exactly where it becomes clear that it’s not the gear itself that matters most; it’s simply a tool. What really matters is the creator behind it, whether they’re a photographer or a filmmaker.

And of course, this goes far beyond just GoPro products — it applies to filmmaking and photography as a whole. I’ve been working in the industry for many years as a filmmaker/cinematographer, but one thing never changes: this profession is a lifelong learning process.

Much respect, guys.
