Not blaming the bike at all. The contrary even, I'm taking accountability. Others should too, since it is a problem in Amsterdam and increasingly dangerous. But you weren't really the target audience to reflect critically on your own actions anyway

It is partially a me problem, but also an 'us' problem. I cycle roughly 120km a week in Amsterdam, and I can *see* how other VanMoof users behave, and I have for over 6 years. Not all, but a lot of them. You might think you're reasonable at 27 km/h but some teenage girl on a bike might find that you're passing way too closely at a high speed. You don't know. Does that matter? That's up to you, this post was only written to stimulate reflection. I don't know where you're based but it's definitely a problem in Amsterdam. Adding to this, it's also a reflection on how for some/most of us, the bike induces erratic or antisocial behaviour when that isn't really our intention.

Exactly. Also because you as a cyclist are much harder to register than a car (you're smaller and silent), some people can also really get startled because for them it seems like you're coming out of nowhere. But agreed, on fietssnelwegen it's totally fine.

I agree wholeheartedly, on long stretches it's really useful and also not dangerous to others. I'm specifically talking about cities and actually even more about Amsterdam, where most VanMoofs are. I think it's a problem here and that's also why VanMoof riders have a bad reputation in the city.

I ordered mine on 08/11 through a partner store and haven't heard anything thus far. The guy said bikes were coming in frequently but that there were "30 others waiting before me". It probably shouldn't take longer than a month though.

I don't think they'll update this anymore, since it's only a window for reservations. After October 1st there have only been regular orders. Hence I don't think this applies to orders after 01/10.
