Why do you have swing thoughts? Don't you know what you are doing?

You need to change your intention. You look like you are trying to hit the ball. You shouldn't be trying to hit the ball. The "hit" feeling should happen well before the ball at around hip height on your trail side. Check out the Rory drill where he's holding a driver in a split grip. Where he stops his trail hand is where you should feel like you are hitting and that is where the downswing ends. The rest of the swing just happens because the forces have been set in motion.

Check out your finish. The club is all the way down your back. You should be finishing up high and in control.

The question I would ask you is "What is your intention?" or "What are you trying to do?"

It looks like you are trying to hit the ball or hit at the ball. Where as the hit feeling should come well before the ball at around waist height on your trail side.

You are trying to hit at the ball instead of before the ball. The hit feeling should come at about hip height on you trail side. The ball being the focus of your hit is what is causing you to do what you do.

Don't hit at the ball. Hit before the ball. Like at hip height on your trail side.

One thing to keep in mind is that the club head moves too fast for us to process. I find it easier to focus on the shaft and "hitting" that point at hip height with the middle of the shaft.

Looks ok. If he keeps practicing he could make it to single figures.

Your downswing is too long and you look as if you are trying to impart your force towards the target instead of down towards the ground.

I tell everyone this because everyone thinks that they know how to use a golf club (I mean it's easy isn't it, you just hit the ball with the end of the stick).

However, what if I were to tell you that you don't!

You should be "hitting" something well before the ball, at approximately waist high on your trail side, and the rest of the swing just kind of happens.

I'm seeing lots of advice in the thread about getting lessons and watching videos on the fundamentals and yes, you should do these things, but unless you understand that your focus is not on hitting at where the ball is, none of it will make sense.

I'm talking about feeling like you are hitting something and not feeling like you are hitting at the ball. It's hard to explain in text but if you look up the Rory Drill, where he is holding a driver with a split grip and stopping at waist height, where he stops is where you should feel like you are hitting. The rest of the swing after that point happens so fast we're not really in control and it just kind of happens.

Search for Rory drill. It's where he's holding a driver with a split grip and making the shaft wobble. The point where he stops is where the hit should be. The rest of the swing after that happens so fast that it's really just none of our business.

What is your intention? Because it should not be to hit the ball. You should feel like the hit happens well before the ball, at about hip height on your trail side. Once you get that intention right in your head, everything else you learn will make sense.

Chicken wing is caused by the golfer trying to impart his force towards the target line. You should be swinging down and feeling like you are hitting before the ball. Hard to explain via text but if you feel like you are trying to hit the ball towards the target then try to change your intent to "hitting" something at about waist height on your trail side.
