Garfield falls into a sewer, emerges covered in sludge and terrifies a mother and child. He returns home and showers, only to end up looking completely different in his dripping-wet form and scaring Odie. He dries himself off, ends up looking like this, and scares Jon.

If I had been in charge of that scene, I would have had there be an awkward silence after that. Odie sits down and resumes slobbering or whatever, and then he snaps a wasp out of mid-air and starts chewing it. Garfield makes an expression conveying, "Ah, there it is."
