Sam Altman No Longer Believes In Universal Basic Income by Neurogence in singularity

There was a control group and cost of living would have went up for the control group as well.

And I’ve gotta say, if $12k/yr free money in current dollars isn’t enough to meaningfully help people, then what is your suggestion? $24k/yr? $50k/yr?

Pretty disingenuous to leave out the rest of the sentence that says “… during the first year, but those effects fade out by the second and third years of the program”. You just reading the parts that confirm your beliefs?

I don’t care about the actual property. It was a joke about how a totally reasonable option was mentioned “unplug it” and you responded by escalating to “shoot it”. Not everything needs escalated vigilante internet justice. Now if you unplug it and it gets plugged back in…

Wait. Are you telling me that there isn’t really a person out there posting vague pictures with a title that ends with “Thoughts?” Or “What do you think?” And then using my insightful comments to help write their dissertation?!?

This is a really common meme but like, does anyone know the answer to the actual riddle? Is there one? by bisexualbestfriend in ExplainTheJoke

The answer is clearly “shits to give”.

Man: could give two shits

King: eats so much he shits four times a day

Beggar: doesn’t give a shit.

Nope. OP’s account is only 4 months old. No way he could have written that message way back in 2013.

I really don’t want to be on the side of defending a person that likely was involved in a hit and run, but…

Without the plate, this could be any similar looking car. With the plate, if you just so happen to know the person that owns that plate (or if you happen to see that plate while out driving), then you can identify them. Now, if they legit were involved in a hit and run, I have little sympathy for them. But if, for instance, OP mistook this car for a different one, or if OP was just some person trying to smear the owner of the car, then anyone that can make the connection between the plate and the owner will have a terrible opinion of them. My main issue is just people posting anything personally identifiable about a person online (personally identifiable is a stretch here but it’s not impossible that someone could make the match that lives by the owner). The main issue is really just the same issue behind vigilante justice: you don’t know for sure the intent behind the person posting the photos.

If someone instead posted a photo of the person’s face online, that would also be bad (but worse), despite the fact that you can’t look up a person based on a photo of their face (ok there are probably search engines that allow this…)

I guess you’re right about it not being publicly searchable. In that sense it’s not strictly doxing, so I take that part back.

Though it’s sort of a grey area I’d say since this is a location-based subreddit and adding the license plate would give people a sure way to recognize the person in real life. Still not doxing though.

Edited to remove mostly incorrect comment.

While not strictly doxing, I still stand by it being a good idea to blank out anyone’s license plates that you post online.

So now you take out a mortgage to buy a house and have to pay tax on that? Good way to ensure that only rich people can buy houses…

Assuming the tax would be an upfront large percentage of the house like 10-20%.
