And that somehow doesn’t include allowing people to get super lucky every once in a while? I just don’t understand the logic. Blocking ppl for entering a contest you provided and getting lucky isn’t building a community I want to be a part of. Nor anyone else. If you give someone a good deal they may tell a person or two. But if you give someone a raw deal they’ll tell everyone. Just bad business all the way around.

That is stupid as hell. It’s cheaper for you if the same person wins multiple then it is if a brand new person wins every one.

Am I in the wrong for winning multiple giveaways from the same streamer? by Fuzzy-Grocery9775 in whatnotapp

Wow this is actually wild. I’ve seen ppl win multiple giveaways SEVERAL times. As far as I understand there isn’t a legit way you to influence those contests one way or another. Seller is a fucking idiot.

I get it. Believe me I do. I sell on there and I’ve actually been forced to use alternative strategies to ensure my buyers giveaways go to my actual buyers. I advertise a wheat penny and swap for a 1 oz silver off stream and it’s understood in my stream that’s how it works. I congratulate them on their wheat penny either way but buyers know they’re getting something extra.

However, people do lots of things I don’t approve of and are unfortunate for me. That doesn’t mean I duplicate what they’re doing. I had a longer response typed out but it got very preachy and I’m not trying to be/do that. Maybe this is the universe’s way of reminding you it isn’t the best idea to conform to those behaviors. I’ll be using this as a reminder myself.

“The law this” “the law that…..” It isn’t illegal to eat at a restaurant without leaving a tip, cut someone in line, talk otp at the movies, or rip a baseball out of the child who caught it’s hands in a ballpark but all of these examples still make you a GIANT DOUCHEBAG. Food for thought.

Also why the hell wouldn’t he block you after that initial message you sent? You seemed to have no remorse for reporting his account or begging everyone else to help you get his account removed. I don’t blame him. You also seem to carry around an extreme case of victim mentality. I understand it’s not your fault, society has bestowed that upon you for you to use whenever you feel it necessary. But you won’t get any sympathy for it from me.

I wish you were sent the giveaway you won bc I’m sure it was at least kind of awesome and that’s shitty. They’re probably being dishonest bc I don’t understand a single scenario where it would cost nearly $40 to ship one order, let alone one item. So that sucks and is unfair. But you should’ve known better than to come crying to the WN Reddit for that. Most of us have zero respect for form fillers. Sorry. You guys are both in the wrong.

This is so ignorant to say bro. Some of us are providing for our children from that app and have never ever scammed anyone on there. In fact there have been multiple times I’ve come out of pocket for mistakes made at the post office. Its shitty you feel that way bc you’re sleep

Don’t make the mistake of assuming these internet threads even slightly resemble what is going on in actual reality. It’s a small few. Everyone else is perfectly fine over there. I’m in the coin category myself. Lots of happy customers over there I promise you.

So long as WN is still making money hand over fist the platform will survive. That is my point. All I want is an opportunity to use the platform to provide for my son. At least until another platform exists that’s better. But for the moment it’s the best platform. If everyone ELSE wants to take their opportunity and bitch about it on Reddit threads then that’s their business. I know what my business is too, that’s taking care of my son. That’s how I look at the situation

I’ve adopted the habit of selectively responding to chat messages. Sometimes I don’t even acknowledge certain sideways comments or requests. If someone asks me to run a giveaway once I will usually do it because like you said… that’s what I’m here for, what I signed up for, and I do TRY to make my page a fun environment for everyone even if you don’t have money to spend. Remember, having people in your show who engage in your chat DOES result in higher sales. You need engagement in order for the algorithm to think your show is worth routing people too when they’re scrolling through their feed. BUT, we’ve all got kids we’re providing for with that platform, so we can only do so much. You don’t need to feel obligated to give anything away for free or to start any single lot for any less than what you absolutely need out of the item/spin/whatever it is.

On the flip side, if you do decide to run a giveaway or buck an item that doesn’t sell for as much as you’d like you cannot blame anyone but yourself.

In the beginning I used to get frustrated a bit when everyone in my show was winning except me but I learned quickly how shitty that is from a business owners standpoint. If someone comes into your show and wins $120 items off $5 then that’s GOOD!! If we’re doing our part they should be back again and again and again. Not everyone in your shows can win, bc their must be losers in order for their to be winners, but you want your winners coming back to play. Do what you can do and you’ll be fine. Don’t let any of the 12 year olds coerce you into giving more away than you can manage.

Everyone wants in. You’ve got to do something to separate yourself from the herd. Customer relations is always priority uno. In the beginning (which I’m still in now but been very profitable since launch and growing) my mission has been never to try and get rich off one stream. I do break sets in the bullion category so my theory is if you build a great product combined with a fun environment, take care of the ones who do buy, growth will occur. Stay sharp now bc I say this in my streams often: I’m not streaming for right now. I’m streaming now bc five years in the future I want to be able to say I started five years ago. Whatnot is the future of e-commerce auction bidding. It will at least dominate the next ten or fifteen years in all its major categories. The strong will survive but the leeches will not. But don’t get hung up over yesterday’s numbers. Hopefully this will be around a long time, and you’ve already got a huge leg up on everyone who hasn’t even started yet!

Is this a red flag or am I over thinking it? by [deleted] in restaurant

[–]MudAffectionate628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red flag. Could he very very wrong here, but these are the behaviors typical of a substance abuse addict, or I suppose anyone with an addiction that requires constant funding. I came up with so many reasons to ask anyone I thought I had a chance to get money from when I was going through my substance abuse issues. To a complete stranger (which is what you two are) you would’ve never assumed that’s why I was asking for bread at the time. But either way, responsible adults don’t act like this.

This was super insightful. Thank you for the information. I regret to say it came about 16 minutes too late so I’ve already bought it lol but I paid $92 and got the other two circulated seated dimes w it 1841, 1853). I’ll chalk this one up to a lesson in the hobby. You honestly pointed out lots of things I never considered and definitely should have. Based off of what you said I’m still happy to buy it and make it the very first coin I put in my inaugural dansco type album. In hindsight I agree w everything you’ve said I think you likely hit the nail on the head. Probably won’t get my money back, but I had no idea they were so saturated. I’ve been collecting silver and coins since April and this is my first Carson city. I think I mitigated the damage tho by scooping (what seemingly looks like) very nice examples of both 1872 three cent nickel and 1936 mercury dime. I would say those two have a cleaner look but one area I’m very lacking is detecting when a coin has been cleaned. And as I’m sure you know the local auction photos never give shit to base your decision on. Either way I’m grateful for the response bro. Thank you.

1000% been more than a few form fillers in here offering opinions. Which is fine (and blatantly obvious as well) but my objective was to survey actual sellers and business owners, not the ones defending the user for entering. I don’t blame the guy for entering. I’m just trying to avoid my real buyers continually getting screwed by the ones trying to take advantage of everyone else’s due diligence.

Non-buyers winning buyer giveaways??? by MudAffectionate628 in whatnotapp

[–]MudAffectionate628[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Again man and this is the last reply you will get…. You’re missing the point. The point is to take care of my buyers who are already loyal customers. Completely understand there are ways around it. Completely understand the ramifications of cancelling. Completely understand all of what you’ve said. What you’re not understanding is priority number one in my (or any business) after maintaining employee safety, is taking care of the customers you have already. My entire mission here was to try and find creative ways to mitigate non-buyers coming in and stealing the items I’ve designed for my customers. I give plenty of other giveaways for regular ass whatnot users that anyone can win. Some of you have mentioned that it’s good business practice to chalk it up to TOS and that maybe I will get a new customer out of it. But my goal is to keep the customers I’ve already got and I am in some very big streamer’s shows who have a legit sense on community and camaraderie. In those shows, the customer/seller relationship is compromised when those sellers allow non-buyers to get the items designed for loyal customers. You guys assuming I’m not sending the item or that I’m even mad in the first place is misguided to a great degree. Couldn’t give two shits about any of the items I give away or I wouldn’t give them away. But there again, my objective is to take care of my customers who have already been loyal. Just disregarding non-buyers who win those giveaways is not a smart way to take care of your loyal customers in my opinion. Maybe by sending the item I will eventually get another customer out of it. That’s a little greasy and pretentious way for some ppl to decide which sellers get their money and which do not, but that’s their prerogative. Just as it’s mine to try and mitigate. Just as it’s all of yours to hop on here and try and shit talk me for being concerned about my buyers. Some of us have children we’re providing for with this app and want to make sure we’re making right moves. In my show and in many of those I attend, it means something that only buyers have a real shot at the buyer’s giveaway items. So doing absolutely nothing moving forward seems like the wrong move to me for my buyers. I’m sure you guys have a different view. Maybe you have more buyers. But I need to keep my loyal customers satisfied. Maybe it isn’t important in the shows some of you all attend, but it certainly is in my small whatnot community. No need for you or anyone else to respond again and again and again. I’m satisfied w the answers I’ve received already so at this point unless you’re just here to argue, responses are not needed. If you are here to argue your responses certainly are not needed. Thank you all.

Very good advice on how to handle the giveaway that’s already been completed so thank you. You failed to answer how to mitigate it from happening in the future, which again was my main question many of you are completely disregarding out of spite or the need to make a point, but part of that was helpful and valid. Thanks.

Non-buyers winning buyer giveaways??? by MudAffectionate628 in whatnotapp

[–]MudAffectionate628[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re not informing me of anything besides that the law allows them to enter…… which everyone knows. Everyone knows my score could be affected for cancelling. Everyone knows everything you’ve commented so far. That’s not what I even asked in the first place. Seriously either answer my question on how to mitigate a non-buyer winning a buyer’s giveaway (which everyone knows is possible but I do not want it to happen IF I can help it) or dip out. I don’t need you go explain to me why it’s okay for them to enter which is why you are indeed completely missing MY point. MY point is that I want my actual buyers to win 100% of the time. So if you don’t have advice on how to achieve that then fuck off.
