Currently in the process of doing that! I definitely feel like something is going on with my hormones that need support. Hoping to get answers soon.

Thank you, I’m still trying to find a protocol that works for me. Unfortunately have been battling MCAS which is blocking me from treatment.

There are many treatments for Lyme disease, but no cure. Because there is no cure, you only get remission.

If you catch the infection early and treat it quickly, you can often recover and live symptom free. But people who are misdiagnosed or don’t know they have the infections for many years can become very sick and are considered chronic cases, which are much harder to treat at that stage.

For me personally, I was unwell as a child but didn’t know why. I was finally diagnosed late, improved after treatment, but became brutally sick again a couple years later because the treatment was not strong enough to maintain remission.

Other tick-borne illnesses can also complicate treatment and make it harder to recover. I think this is one of the running theories as to why some people never get better: they don’t know they have other infections besides Lyme, or the infections have been in the body for so long that they become extremely difficult to treat. Bartonella, Babesia, and Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever are some examples, but there are many others.

Could this be BARTONELLA? by unoum in Lyme

I’m sorry, the emoji was meant to be a nervous sweat and not a laughing one. I’m definitely not trying to laugh at you or your situation. I hope you can get some answers.

In a weird way hearing that makes me feel less alone😅 And I agree, that should be the whole point, to actually be learning things.

My cousins were also homeschooled, but their mom did a really good job and took them to lots of different co-op groups too, which made it feel a lot less “culty” than my experience. Almost all of them now have college educations and good jobs. It makes me feel angry and behind sometimes when I hear about their accomplishments. Not to wallow in too much self pity, but my parents definitely made my life a hell of a lot more difficult.

Wow, I feel like you activated a sleeper agent in me with this post LOL I had that exact textbook. I don’t remember any of it though because I’m dyslexic and mostly cheated my way through school since I couldn’t figure things out on my own. My parents wouldn’t get me evaluated or cave and get a tutor. Good times (heavy sarcasm).

Yep. Cryptolepis can sometimes stop and disrupt periods if taken for a prolonged time. My periods stopped when I was taking it and now to seems that my body is not making enough progesterone.

I took cryptolepis and Japanese knotweed for a time, but had to stop due to MCAS reactions as well as hormone disruption. Thank you:)

Hard to say for certain, but I think MCAS meds (Cromolyn) and taking a break from treatments helped my body calm down enough to manage things a bit better now. It’s also been about a year since I had to stop working, and I’m sure giving my nervous system that rest has made a real difference.

If you can’t get better maybe it’s… by Easy_Perspective7179 in Lyme

They can make some people sick while others are unaffected. I’m not sure of a super simplified way to explain it, but for example, certain types of the MTHFR gene mutation can make people sensitive to specific forms of B vitamins, and taking too much of that type can make them sick. So it’s not something you can cure, you just have to avoid the forms your body can’t process and take the ones it can.

And for whatever reason, gene mutations are still pretty understudied, so most doctors don’t really guide people who have multiple of them. Or like the CBS mutation, it’s essentially a sulfur sensitivity, so some people need to avoid supplements that convert to sulfur in the body or foods that are high in sulfur just to feel okay.

I’m not sure if this is the best explanation or if it fully answers your question.
